It's just sad these cars go to yards these days. They won't sell the cars once on there, dead and gone.

Saw this ad and made a trip to the yard. I ended up with the window trim and windshield and a couple interior trim parts for just over $100. I am updating my 67 Dart trim on the windshield to the 68 and later style, so it was a score for me !!

The hood, fenders and interior parts are pretty much gone, but the bumpers, doors, deck lid and K-member (V8) were still there and appeared to be in decent shape.
Thanks for heads up!!

I have not been to the Pick A Parts in years... window trim, windshield, few interior trims... and that was over $100 !! ??

WTF !!!

Ok, I sorta get that fenders are $75 now. 35 years ago in 1990 they were $25

But the little stuff that used to be $1 to $2 is where the raping begins.. used coil $15 with $1 core. You can buy them new for that much for are old cars. Oil cap $8. That used to be a $1-$2 item.

Some of this stuff is near new part $$. @junkyardhero Are they as busy as they once were??

The trim was only $10, front, $10 rear, and $10 for the interior pieces, the windshield was $60... then you add in the environmental fees and taxes and it was over $100... considering the new repops (window trim) for what I bought were something like $350 for just the rear alone (and that was for repops). I thought that wasn't too bad - the windshield was the costly part and it had the Chrysler stamp on it. A gamble - yes, but if I break it going in I won't be out the $300-400 for a new one...

That doesn't sound too bad.

The windshield seems high. But I think they always sorta were. There were lots of used windshield places around the junkyards here.

And a lot of fees and taxes.

yeah they're pretty outrageous with some of their pricing but comparatively when the majority of the cars there are 10~15 yrs old and calipers are 75~100 bux, that 26 used with a warranty starts looking real attractive to those buyers.

they're back to being busy. last year they fucked around with their pricing-- if you can believe it, it was even worse than it is now and the place was a ghost town. but they brought it all back to "old pricing" and it's about the same as it ever was.

they've been having a summer sale on transmissions and engines at 50% which is nice, and admission is back down to $3 "for summer".

they dropped the environmental fee at some of them, but still roll you on admission, tax and cores.

Brake rotor with hub $32 w/$3 core plus $3 entry.

But cheapest new 75 Dart 10.75 rotor is around $80 delivered.

To me stuff like that should be 1/4 new.

yeah, on a lot of stuff the delta is just too far out. unless you find a set of calipers and rotors that are minty looking the juice ain't worth the squeeze.

same goes for A LOT of stuff there, like body parts or seats.

Looking at our cars the options for a wrecking yard (parts) are getting scarce, so sometimes we have to take what we find...
I know many have been collecting parts for a long time so we have to look for other options rather than once numerous wrecking yards options...

Totally agree.

But just in on particular maintenance hard parts, rebuilt/new may make more sense. Back in the day I would buy rotors and calipers at the yard. Doesn’t seem as good as deal any more.

But in the case of your window trim, much better deal. Especially if you can buff and restore stainless yourself.
