Looks to be a Single Plane intake, not as good as a Dual Plane on the lower rpms.

4.3 v6 engines are known for bad distributors, resulting in weak spark. Want to make sure the ignition is up to par, and will burn the spark plugs clean.

Also what type of fuel pump are you running, pressure may be too high resulting in the running rich symptoms.

wrong. it's a dual plane. straight from edelbrock:

besides, intake style is unlikely to cause the issue he's having. unless it was newly installed and it's got a massive vacuum leak, but even then that would be any manifold.
 
Might just be the nature of the Beast with that 2 & 1 intake runner design pulling unevenly across that 4 bbl. plenum, especially with the single plane design exaggerating it.

Those were fuel injection engines, before he swapped it over to carb.

you can still pull vacuum with a leak.
I didn't know that, I've learned something new. I'm thinking between the carb and the intake since he's had both carbs off several times. I'm going to mention that to him but he'll probably say that's not it because the gasket is new. If he gets a attitude this time I'm done and I don't care if he ever gets it running right.

That's kinda what I said. When i said that he told me right off that I was wrong. It was a fuel injection engine out of a blazer I believe.
 
Drop plenum. Maybe he means/meant a dual plane. One of the planes is lower than the other, has a 'drop'.

Can see how it has the same bogging coming off the low end as it's trying to get up to rpm.



Turn up the sound on the video so you can hear it, and watch the lag as the butterflies are opening.

That’s not the “nature of the beast”. That’s how the dyno loads the engine. There is no bog in that video, that’s a smooth low rpm start of a dyno run. The edlebrock performer v6 ain’t anything different than any other dual plane intake and it works just fine on a stock 4.3 with just about any carb. We built lots of those things for off road trucks in limited minitruck classes and they run great. Please stop regurgitating nonsense.

I have no clue what is wrong with it, it has a hesitation, stumbles and runs rich and both carbs that he's tried do the exact same thing.

I know you keep saying that but you also don’t bring any valuable information to the conversation. Like “the timing is at 13 degrees initial and the floats are set to 7/16” (edlebrock) or at the bottom of the sight plug (Holley)” so that we can actually start to figure out why it “does the exact same thing” with both carbs. So, I’m out, have fun I hope you get it figured out but with nothing to go on I’ve nothing to add. See ya!

Randy said that the timing is good, he never said what the float level was for the edelbrock, he said that the float level of the holley is spot on. He claims that he's checked out the accelerator pump for both carbs, supposedly he's changed the jets on both carbs. I've asked him for exact adjustments he's done on both carbs and he said it's right

He said that you don't know what you're talking about, he said that there's no way that he would have 17" of vacuum with a leak
You tell Randy from me, there's a reason he drives a Vega with a V6, tell him to think about it and ask his Chevy buddies. lol
