The 68 dash is a odd one in a few ways. Ashtray lamp was a very early use of fiber optics. Wasn't space for bulb socket at that tray. I know it plugs into the orange wire circuit. Radio lamp on same orange. Console shift bezel lamp is too. I think some 68s had a delay timer on interior lights and some had ignition switch light above that bezel. Did some wires change to yellow after that timer? Inst' panels illumination on orange wouldn't have went through the timer.

Thanks Kendog, I didn't realize it was so rare. It doesn't appear in the schematic. This car also has a timer delay light for the ignition switch activated when you open the door. I think we all learned something.

I have one but haven't installed yet. That round cylinder I believe mounts to the ashtray frame. If I have any time this weekend I can dig it out and take a pic and maybe install it.

back when I decided to backlight the climate controllers and switch marquees, this early use if fiber optics gave me both inspiration and ma mopars permission to employ it. A single shrouded bulb placed left of glovebox feeds same fiber optic material as used in todays robotic surgery.
