Brainstormin' 440 vs 5.9 ...

And for a comparison the roadkill crop duster with a warmed up rv440 (cam, intake, carb, headers, stock stealth heads) made 330ish and went 12.39 at 113mph. In a duster with caltracs and slicks.

A little off, It seems like it made 356 RWHP

The only thing I don’t like about running a stock block 440 with a fifty plus year old factory build is wasting a good 440 block in the process. You need to keep the rpm low and the prayers high.

You should also make sure all the rod nuts are still on the rod bolts because sometimes they are in the pan.

We need a guess from @RV440willrun
After all you had that pig in a car already and know how not slow it is.
I am as clueless as the rest of you. It had a smok'd transmission so while I did manage to go around a couple of blocks, I wasn't able to do anything but just over idle.

I followed that build closely, because I love that car in it's patina. I wonder, though, my 5.9 might have come close to that in a light Duster :)

5.9s similar to yours have been in the 11s in a bodies. And I agree, I absolutely love that car.

When you pull the bombcycle out of the truck to put the 440 in, replace the 318 in your blue duster with the bombcycle. You will be required to change your screen name though from that point on.

Which duster do you have now? Did you sell the blue car?

So can I put you down for a 13.75 ??? kind of in a middle of the road of your guess??
That's what I said, me I'd have that 440 running at least 2 10 tenths quicker than the 5.9 with a grinder and camshaft. at least 2. :D

I won't put the 440 in as "mildly built" to only go 2 lousy tenths quicker. Huge waste of time and money. I will do this "test" in stock form just for the yee-haw of it.

I'd say for $500 bucks and some grinding 2 is pretty dang good, now with a little more compression and some 300cfm heads a full 2 seconds isn't out of the question.
