Nope. I’m right there with ya. But I think it’ll be slower than 15s stock.Am I the only one that wants to see it run 15s with the rv 440 and then see it run 12s with heads and cam?
The truck is still on the trailer from it's last outing at the track with the 5.9. 440 is still on the engine stand. I said LOL because i thought you were poking me to get busy. LOL. Thought I been pretty clear where this is all atHe just LOLed me about it. Th
I want more than 15's with the RV 440 as it is..... If it goes 15's, I probably will have a running 440 for sale... and build a small blockAm I the only one that wants to see it run 15s with the rv 440 and then see it run 12s with heads and cam?
My interest is peaked to no end with this now. I can't wait to see what it does!Nope. I’m right there with ya. But I think it’ll be slower than 15s stock.
I'll street test... LOL.. If I need, I'll throw another gear in before I take it to the track. It will be wheezing from the 1/8th on with those 4.30's out back.
I'll tune it to the best of my ability to give it every possible chance to surprise us. It's what I do...Good for you. I won’t be surprised if the pig surprises us all. 3.23:1
Advance the cam while you’re in there…I'll tune it to the best of my ability to give it every possible chance to surprise us. It's what I do...
I put a new timing chain in it before it was installed in the magnum. It's 2* advanced. which will be TDC after it runs a bit... lol. I'm not taking anything apart on it, just the oil pan swap. It's gotta do it as she sits. It does have the single plane Torker 440 on it.Advance the cam while you’re in there…
No. I missed it somehow. I saw the video where the 440 was running and assumed you had it in the truck already. The truck is still on the trailer from it's last outing at the track with the 5.9. 440 is still on the engine stand. Good. And no gear change. Has to be a test between 5.9 and 440 in the same vehicle set up the same way. That’s what all the hubbub was about in the beginning of this thread. After it runs like 3 legged dog, then start making it better. My interest is peaked to no end with this now. I can't wait to see what it does!
At 7.3:1 compression it’ll run on 85 octane.I think it will run just fine off of 87 octane?? LOL
Well, if I move the gears it will be the "wrong way" for most drag racers. The 5.9 shifted at 5500 rpms, so if the 440 shifts at 4200 rpms, then I may pull the 4.30's for something like 3.23's. I think it's only fair that they both cross the line around shift point.Good. And no gear change. Has to be a test between 5.9 and 440 in the same vehicle set up the same way. yeah, that's colorado gas... lol. We don't have 85 here, 87 is the lowest. At 7.3:1 compression it’ll run on 85 octane.
I don’t see it that way. I see it as optimizing one combo vs another. And the test needs to be engine vs engine at this point not combo vs combo. How else am I going to get my 16.9?Well, if I move the gears it will be the "wrong way" for most drag racers. LOL... so that's your way of saying the 440 is worthless in it's present state?? gearing it so it's out of RPM's by the 500 ft mark? Ha! Then how about we put 3.23's in the truck now and make the 5.9 run with 3.23's, then put the 440 in. Both run off of 3.23's. Like that comparison??I don’t see it that way. Naw, I want to see what the 440 runs as the 440 sits. And I'm not going to hold it open with it popp'n because it's 1500 rpm's past shift point the last 600 ft so I can "make a point". If your scared of the 440's #'s because it has a lot less gear, then..... LOLLOL... so that's your way of saying the 440 is worthless in it's present state?? gearing it so it's out of RPM's by the 500 ft mark? Ha! Yes. You asked what the 440 would do in the truck with a $500 budget in post 1. I said it’ll be a turd because $500 won’t get the 440 optimized for anything. That would be a cool test though. 3:23 with the 5.9 then you’d have data for both gears with that engine. Then swap to the 440 with 3:23s. Then hop up the 440 and maybe later put the 4:30s back in it. InterestingLOL... so that's your way of saying the 440 is worthless in its present state?? gearing it so it's out of RPM's by the 500 ft mark? Ha! Yes, but the 440 with 500.00 would have included a cam swap, raising the shift point. AS IS, I'm going to use common sense and try it with 4.30's out of town, but will move the gearing down if necessary. It will just be a RV 440 with less gearing and one rusty cylinder..... we'll see how your 16.9 holds upYes. You asked what the 440 would do in the truck with a $500 budget in post 1.
We all have till April. One guess is as good as another till April. You can put a .600 solid roller and springs with 500lb over the nose and the RV 440 will still not RPM and run a 15. Prove me wrong!!
