Not a Mopar, but what I’ve been working on for the last year with a buddy. We’re getting close. Apparently this is the holy Grail of Ford trucks.

My brother in law had the twin to that . Bought it new … I did some work on it once and couldn’t figure out why it was such a dog ! Apparently that’s just the way they were . This truck had about 70k miles and was in mint condition. I had a 74 SWB Power Wagon at the time that I had dropped the 383 magnum out of my 70 Charger into and it ran awesome and got decent mpg . The original 360 ran pretty good but jumped a timing chain but ran pretty good .
I hope you are planning on recamming the Ford 360 or at least redegreeing it ?

Looks great though.

I know Nothing about Fords I’m just having my Machine shop buddy rebuild it!

It was a great truck other than the lack of power . Apparently Ford chose to retard the cam timing and if one adjust that and the ignition timing it really wakes them up .
A friend of mine stumbled across his dad’s original 77 F150 SWB and I helped him restore it . We dropped a reman 460 in to replace the original worn out 400 ( his choice) and tuned it properly. Ran great ! He then surprised his dad on his 70th birthday. His dad literally cried .

Very nice!

I’ve got a ‘71 F100 4x4 4 speed. Was originally a 360 but is out to 390 now. A real beast, my wife destroyed the original 2 speed transfer case spinning the 35’s that are on it. Has the later NP435/205 combo now, 4 speed transfer case with the compound low.

Yes it had a system that would measure outside temp and what gear you where in then it would throw a solenoid to retard the timing. That was gone long ago.

My brother had one like that in the early 80s when it was just an old used pickup. Not sure what year it was but it was similar to the OP's, short bed, 4x4 F100 with a 360 and a 4 speed, and I remember that it also had a/c, which was pretty unusual for a truck like that in Winnipeg.

More on topic. I’ve never used SMS before as Legendary does mopars but not Fords. I believe they said this is NOS material. This basketweave was only for Sport Custom models. Hope they fit as well as they look. Not cheap!

Beautiful truck! It looks like Granny.....which is what a friend of mine called his Ford 4 x 4 short bed. It was an early 70's truck and same color with 4 speed.
