In an add on Nov 26, a FABO Gold Member claimed that he had a good set of rods for sale that I ended up purchasing. Turns out weren’t so good. So I am relisting them with a FULL DISCLOSURE:



Original listing stated:

“I got a good set of Bill Miller aluminum 426 rods standard length 20 passes on them” (His picture of all 8).

In PM I asked and he replied:

HE FLAT OUT LIED!

Turns out that 7 out of 8 rods are SEVERLY SCORED on the crank bore. If I had to guess, the owner lost oil pressure and spun a bunch of bearings. At any rate, they are NOT ready to use and seller knows he would still have them had he FULLY DISCLOSED the true condition of the rods.

Maybe they can be reconditioned…..$300 obo

I moved this to generall duscussion until we figure out what needs to be done here.. I also removed the photo with e mails and contact information.
 
Thanks Mike, seller has pulled this BS before, and to think this site had a fundraiser for this clown when he crashed one of his 8 YES 8 dusters!

I don't like the looks of those rods but I have seen those patterns before on steel rods. @RedlineRed , you do need to take them to a machine shop for a look see. Contact @badlilred79 for a refund. You may loose out on some shipping.

Here is How to delete conversations from your inbox...

Click the envelope on the top right, then click SHOW ALL

You can also go to your conversation list and click to open one and below the title are some options.
Click on "Leave" and follow the options.

Click the check boxes of the conversations you want to delete

A menu will come up on the bottom of the page - Choose LEAVE CONVERSATIONS then click "GO" (that is the same thing as delete)

One more thing to do. A box will come up once you press GO asking if you want to Accept or...

My primary concern with those wouldn't be needing to have them resized, but work hardening from the excess heat. I would email pictures to BME and get their opinion. BME has a good write up on the superior ALCOA spec'd alloy, but aluminum is notoriously fickle when subjected to extremes in temperature and vibration. That's very similar to the kind of damage seen in an over revved nostalgia class fuel engine.

No. You can go back to the original add (if it is still there) and see all his pics. You can barely make out a possible issue only if you look really close. But again, I specifically asked in a PM and was told no issues, ready to use.
