dougs headers

-
Yes, I used them on my early a body. Great headers, just pricey. I think Summit carries them now for about $800. 1-5/8 primaries with 2-1/2 collectors.

I have not used them but when I looked into them they do not fit any column shift application which was of no issue with me but they also say that they do not work with the 727 trans which is what I have. They do look like a very well made header though.

Ask and ye shall receive! I just got my Doug's headers in and Like them! They have all the room in the world on the passenger side but they are TIGHT up against the steering box on the drivers side. They do offer excellent ground clearance which seems to be an issue with most Header suppliers. I have run TTI and now Dougs. I would consider them darn close in fit/quality myself. If you need additional pics or info just let me know. My good friend is Direct with Dougs and I can get you all some good deals if you want a set! Cheaper then Summit!

I believe mine were a D453 ??...I am almost positive. Give me your cars details (year, make, model, trans etcc...) and I will get you a price on the correct set for your car.

Hey thanks Adam, you hooked me up with 10 second Phill and he sent me the pics remember? So thanks again for that! He's selling his car you know! He's asking 35K. Its sweet! I also met him in person and purchased a 742 Suregrip 3:23 a few months back. Nice guy. For those dont do not know, the color I went with was the color used on the 2006 Charger Daytona RT Cars. They call it gomango.:toothy10:

Yep, I have my book here and you need the D453 as well. I will check this morning and shoot you an email. I will price both coated and non coated for ya~

Ok guys, here's the deal if you want a set of Dougs Headers. I can do the coated headers #D453 for $472.65 and if you want the same headers in a non coated D453-R they sell for $339.29 They ship direct from CA so in rcottick's case the shipping would run $55 additional. These come with all the gaskets (nice thick material, Not like a typical fel-pro or Victor gasket) Also includes the header bolts. Shoot me here or off list if you need any info or want to order them [email protected]

Unlike TTI which has a 4-5 week waiting period, I ordered my Doug's and they came from CA. to NY. in about 4-5 days. If they are in stock (and they should be) they ship same day......

Not to hijack this thread, but how about a quote on headers for an early a body, part # D450?

Thanks!

Yeah, sorry.....not meant to turn into a "4 sale" section but since i posted my photo's and satisfied the original poster I told people I can get them...So if anyone wants a quote for them please use my email or PM me here so we dont get off topic. Im working on getting the quote on the D450's. My buddy decided to take a 1/2 day from work and go golfing so I should have an answer on those by Friday AM. Thanks. [email protected]

Nope, no slip joint in the Doug's headers. I wish I had more patience when I got these and took the time to photograph them out of the box. The pics you see above are when I was installing the engine, trans, headers and so forth so they are dirty and crummy looking from being man-handled. They need cleaned up thats for sure! To answer your question, the install was pretty decent. On the passenger side you have a good 2" to 3" of room (in my car anyway, 69 barracuda fastback) and on the drivers side you will have to preform the usually ole header shimmy to fit em' in but not quite as bad as installing a "universal fit" set. As far as I know, Doug's and TTI's are are the only ones making a "actual fit" type header for our specific cars while the "x brand" is going to be a universal fit. I do admit the TTI's are a better "fit" and do offer a little more ground clearance but after putting these on my car I will save the couple hundred bucks and get the Doug's. I have yet to bottom the car out (granted I only have about 200 miles on the car) but I have driven in/out of parking lots with ease. No scraping. Anyways, thats just my 2 cents on them. I think I have some pics kickin around of my 67 fastback that had the TTI's ....If I do, I will post them in the next few minutes. TTI does make a great header.

Ok, Here's my Blue 67 Fastback (same engine compartment as my Orange 69) These are the TTI Headers. You will notice not as much room on the passenger side as the Dougs offered and you will notice how the TTI makes the bends around the steering box a little different then the Dougs. Enjoy......

Can anyone say whether the D453's have posed a problem with the 727 install??

Oh, and i'll be sure to introduce myself guys, sorry to jump right in.

I purchased a set of D453's for my 69 340 4 speed car. They don't work with the 4 speed as the bell housing side of the z-bar is impeded by one of the header tubes. Can't get the clutch hooked up without some modification. I can say that Doug's sent special reference to the 727 tranny saying that an ome Chrysler (Mitsubushi) mini started is recommended (translate: required) for the 727. I attempted to use another (chubbier) mini and was not successful. Spent hours on the phone with Doug's tech suppt to no avail. They insist that the headers fit, they don't fit with the 4 speed application. I'm stuck with an expensive set of headers I can't use. As the Dart is an original matching numbers car I'm unwilling to modify the z-bar or go to a hydraulic clutch so the headers are out. I'm thinking you may have better luck with the 727 so long as you go with the recommended mini starter.

All of Doug's paperwork and application book state that these DO NOT fit the 727 although I have seen people use them with the 727 trans. Not sure what they did though? Was it the starter guys?

I had the same issues with 2 sets of tti headers and z bars. Have to move the downleg over because it hits a tube at almost 12 o'clock position. My Dougs were exactly the same.

Why not buy another z bar and modify it. Then you have the stock bar if you go back to std exhaust. Unless you are doing the 100 point show circuit, nobody will care.
