skips 69 swinger resto

-
Car looks Great! I have been wathicng this thread and I am anxious to see the end results! My dart is well under way and will be black as well. (Although it may not see paint until later next year.)

I think the black should look awsome as long as everything is straight,so far so good.
Still have to cut and polish when all the panels are on so it should look even
better. Its getting a black Swinger stripe now that I can visualize it better.
Was going to put a red stripe on but have totaly changed changed my mind.

Car looks awesome....Very nice job, cant wait to see the final pictures....What interior are you doing, black or white? Buckets or bench seat....

Its getting its original black interior back with its original black split bench seat and new black carpeting.Have tried to keep most things as original as possible other than a few performance and appearance items that I would have done back in the day. Thanks for the interest.

Nice work skip I was talking to you at moparfest I have the yellow 69 swinger from London. All I can say is I cant wait to see the finished product and then I can drop mine off for resto? Take care, Steve

Thanks Steve, was good to meet and talk to you at Moparfest, you have a great car. See you at next years Fest.

Just stumbled across this thread the other day and had to read it in its entirety. Car is looking absolutely phenomenal!!! Can't wait to see the finished product! Hats off to you, sir!

Thanks jd, the guy doing my body and paint lives in Stratford.
I would recommend him if your ever thinking of going that route.
He does collision and paint for his day job working for someone else and does
perfomance car body resto in his spare time.Should have some more pics next week.

I'll bite Skip, I've been wanting to get mine painted, hard to find a good place.
I'm in Baden, Stratford would be perfect for me.
If you could please PM me his name and #, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Giles

Man I could sit and look at that all day long! Your car has come out absolutly stunning.

That black looks mean. Very, very nice! I'm happy with it like that, I'll bet you stare at it alot.

Man that is one sharping looking car. Get ready for a lot of attention when you start taking that car out. That is a real head turner.

I'm speechless!

Why have I not seen this thread?

I am on here pretty regularly too... lol!

Super awesome job Skip!

Got all the glass in over the holidays complete with all the door seals, man spent 2 days aligning the side glass front to rear to get the gaps right ,was quite a challenge for me ,had to walk away from it a few times. Also had to pull the 4 speed and hone the tail shaft bushing I installed as the drive shaft yoke was to tight when I went to slide it in.
Why?would you try it when it was out of the car sitting on the stand for a year----lol

Yeah I went through the pain and misery on the glass alignment to. I spent a whole weekend getting it right and it's about 98% perfect. You almost get it where you want it and then one tiny little adjustment and everything goes out the window. No pun intended. I can't tell you how many times the adjustment locks would loosen up and everything would slip way back to no mans land and then I would have to start the process all over again. Man...what a fricken hassel. All I can say is that back in the day when these cars were being built, the guy on the assembly kine had to have had a jig to use so that there was no guessing how far to bring the adjusters in or out to get everything right. Otherwise they would of had to stop the line and go have a beer or 2 to calm down before going back at it. I know I did!

Good to know I am not the only one that found the glass alignment challenging (a few beers was involved) ,I was starting to think that the body structure had changed or something since I started.
