I bought this car 4 years ago for $300 when I was 16. I drove it 6 months later untill last year when I got too many tickets for failure to make repairs. So it hasnt changed much. I rebuilt the slant six head after the booster hose broke and burned a valve. Now its undergoing a slow restoration. NJ is very expensive and I can only find part time work right now so its a slow slow process. Its factory amber sherwood green metallic, I hope to bring it back to that color one day. somone repainted a blueish green color and loaded the lower quarters with bondo and attacked a few other small areas on the car. I hope to build a mild 360/4 speed everyday driver. I dont have alot of money and help but if you have any of these parts at a decent price or want something in a trade, let me know.

I HAVE:
a garrett t3/t4 hybrid turbo
blow off valve
boost controller
gauge
ps2 and games controllers and memory cards
lots of MAD magazines/books and other stuff
a traxxas nitro car with LOTS of parts/fuel and everything needed to make it go
dart swinger side trim
a super six intake and carter 2bbl
super six exhaust manifold
aluminum offy 4bbl slant six intake
a ww2 gas mask in box

I need:
a front bench seat
rear lower quarters
front floor pans
weatherstrip kit
a brake booster -slant 6/ 4 wheel 9 inch drums
dash pad
glovebox
A MIG WELDER
all balljoints
a manual steering box( inspection says power steering is loose?! this will fix it)
rear valance pan
rear leaf springs
everything else you can see that it needs
HELP if you have any of these parts or suggestions, any help is appreciated, thank you! -Travis

A rebuilt power steering box will probably be a lot easier (and cheaper) to do than a manual box. The steering column will also have to be changed for a manual box (or you'll have to buy one of those adaptors usually around $150), and you'll have to change the pulley set up as well.

i thought it would be difficult to do, i had no idea you had to change so much. ill give that a shot rebuilding it, thank you.

I know! for $300 I felt and still feel like a theif. They put a new battery in her, new ignition switch. still runs real strong. I had to make alot of calls to alot of people to come in contact with the holder of the title, the car was abandoned and the owner took off down to florida, it had a for sale sign on it with a number which the guy told me alot of people called asking about the car and he had no idea what I was taling about. It was sitting in a rescue squad parking lot. I visited the car alot to try and find somone who knew what was up. I found a guy who told me to name a price, I told him I had $300 almost as a joke, he told me he would give me a call in a few weeks when he found a title and keys. 2 months later I started to give up. I called him 4 or 5 times during which I had no answer. After the $300 was long gone I landed a short lived job with an alcoholic contractor doing construction which I had barely any idea to what I was doing besides handing him beers all day. One day after work I got a phone call. He said the car was done, there was another guy comming later that day to look at it. I told him to tell that dude to not wate his time because I would be there in 10 mins. After begging my mom to drive me and shaking so much from being so estatic, I could barely count $300 out. I made it there and the guy had the dart running, He told me to drive it to the other corner and park it in that lot till i could tow it out of there. I put it in gear and almost ran my moms little ford fiesta over when the brake pettle sunk to the floor. After throwing it in park and a couple of pumps of the pettle revived it, I idled the little purring slant six dart down the street and parked it. This car has been and always will be a dream that I never thought would happen. I cant wait for the day that tuff wheel is back in my hands.

Well looks like a great place to start.

To bad you don't live closer I have a few of those items you need. LIke the bench seat parts to the rear window trim. not sure what shipping would be. maybe if you pm me. I have a 71 and a 74 for parts car.
are you sure you need a brake booster? or just a new master cylinder? they cost about $30 at advance auto.

my computer blew up, this is my girlfriends computer, now i got to find a way to post pictures, because i have an issue..well now the front fenders bumper and grill came off the car, i brought them home to my apartment only to first discover the undercoating on the drivers side fender looks smeared on while the passenger side looks spattered like the way the factory does it. i noticed a difference in the fender extention studs when i tried to take them off while they were on the car, now that i have room to pry away the cakes on undercoating to remove the 1/2 inch threaded nuts...i discover along with the factory undercoated fender..a fiberglass fender extention...and with the smeared seemingly replaced fender...i die cast pot metal fender extention. casted externally exactly the same, inside the studs and all are indeed completely different but painted and on the car..you would never know the difference. OH also the accused replaced driver side fender.. the indentation that allows the side marker light to sit in is real shallow while the factory fender has a real 90 degree deeper ridge. i will post pictures when i can..but can anyone explain where a cast metal extentionn comes from? do 1970 darts have a metal piece? or was the fiberglass one the replacement? thank you

1971dodge. I have 2 71 darts. one has cast and the other has fiberglass. i see this post is a few weeeks old but no one replied. not sure where the diff comes into play. maybe a different factory.

alright it been a while. ive since aquired a lincoln electric mig with a small argon/co2 bottle, the best damn investment ive ever made for this car, its been great. i put the front floorpans in, i filled a ton of holes and made many patch repairs. heres some pictures. mind you i have NO experience welding OR restoring a car, this was all firlst attempts so alot of trial and error i can say ive learned ALOT!

If your just learning to weld that looks pretty damn good to me.
Your car sounds as though it's a clone of mine. Mine was/is also F3 green with green top and interior. It's been a non-progressing project for about 10 years! I have recently
gotten some work done on it. The plan is to drive it before the summer is up.

WAS a /6 Auto now is 360 auto. Just started working on it again after countless years of sitting. I would love to find an original front bench as mine is missing BTW.
