Wow, that's pretty gunked up!
Thanks for sharing the image though.
I suspect if #7 electrode is getting hit, it is probably hitting something harder than carbon. Thinking your about to have catastrophic failure in #7 from an extremely worn crank of rod bearing.
Do 273 pistons tend to he down...
I hear what you are saying. Once I read the op would run some of our ideas by his mechanic, I knew I was not offering suggestions to a home builder. I think blueprint engine has a well sorted out 408 enginepackage at a reasonable price. I am sure you and others on this site could supply...
Like Dorthy say, "now that's a horse of a different color!"
If it is financially doable, I vote 408 stroker with a 8 3/4!
It is a nice car, and I have often found a nice car on the road beats a dream car in the garage waiting for the day
Yes
Given the op's 2 choices, I would lean towards the 360.
Out of the other choices out there, I like JYH version of a 318 using his compatible parts.
But since the op's "preference" is to use the current engine, probably not original, I like the coating idea.
I'd vote for a light hone with line 2 line coating on the piston skirts and .005 over rings if available/necessary.
Get you back on the road cheap, fast, and numbers matching
Is that a roller block, and do you have the roller lifters, dog bones, and spider to reuse?
What heads # do you have.
You can't go wrong with the aforementioned kb107 pistons for price, but even though not a big horsepower loss, I still personally avoid 5/64 ring packs anymore
