Anyone have a proven aluminum headed, 500 hp, 440 six pack build?????????????

500+ hp six pack build is easy and doesn't need be expensive either. It's a long read.... we Machined/Built and Dyno tested 2 identical 440's and we used a 4 BBL and Stealth Heads for the factory appearance, but go have a 'Boo through this for a few ideas on the basic engine build, the...

[SOLD] 340 X Heads, nice original shape

Like the title says, a nice pair of 340 X Heads complete W/2.02"/1.60" Valves & Springs for rebuilding ? Date codes are June 23rd and July 7th 1969. I really don't know if they even need rebuilding, they are a shed find been sitting for probably 30-40 years since removed, so lots of dust and...

413 marine industrial (E) engine, to, not so industrail......

The ootb Stealth Aluminum Heads from 440 source will bolt on just fine.... but they really need no less than 9.5:1 Compression Ratio even with 87 octane regular fuel, just to heat up whatsoever. Be sure to Check Valve to Bore interference on the 413's small bore, you can put reliefs in the tops...

    383B Stroker Build

First off, may I ask how much power you are targeting ? and, keeping in mind rpm is a function of hp, just what range you are looking at that hp ? upper and LOWER. Because the Car is 50% of the equation.... and serves as the platform to run the Engine, things like Tire Diameter, Gearing...

    piston to wall measurement

Correct, they are calling for the Bore Diameter, to be .0020" to .0025" larger than the Piston. That is a "minimum" reccomended clearance for installation. Additional clearance may be required as per the application... C.R., RPM intended, Etc., etc. USE A TORQUE PLATE, or you will have...

New guy to big block world, need a 400HP 383 Recipe

Here is .030" over 383 Magnum "resto", if you like it I will post up the build in detail. * this particular build uses the stock cast "jobber" Pistons because the Customer already had them.... but far easier to repeat today with KB's. Stock Rods W/ARP Bolts Ported Iron Heads w/stock 2.08"/ 1.74"...

    438/451 Lowdeck Dyno

1 7/8" Header on a 451 in my experience is always a few hp better than the Dyno 2 1/8" EGT Headers. Yes, the 2 nd Sheet is just a pretty run of the mill RB 440 Build, "Prepped' stock ly rods, Icon Pistons, Ported Stealths with the CompCams XE284 on 1.5 Rockers @ .510" lift.

    438/451 Lowdeck Dyno

OK, here is a couple of photos of the Stock 440 Forged Crank Counterweight prep for use in the Lowdeck 400 Blocks. I get a kick out of the "451 manifesto" posted here and elsewhere on the Web ? Don't get me wrong here... I think it's GREAT that the info is written and saved for posterity... I...

    440 Build Help...Piston Delima

Part of what used to make the 2355's so heavy is the 250 gram pin ? Not sure if they are still using that Pin ? ....but we used to order the 1915 SP Pin and shave 40 grams off right away(not sure if that's available anymore either ?) Nothing wrong with the 2355, virtually indestructible...

    900+ HP Pump Gas HEMI

Not a fair comparison Bob.... we're up here in CAN-A-DUH where EVERYTHING costs more ? I mean we pay $5.50 a gallon for regular, the same Gasoline we export to the U.S.A. and sells it for $2.78 ?? But we're OK on this one at $40K Canadian, out the door "DYNO'D" for 8 Hrs, in the Customers...

    Is connecting rod bushings needed?

Look, I am done here OK ? I have covered everything from TODAYS oils(not 30 yrs ago), to the 1053 steel Rod oon the Tool steel Pin, to Piston Alloy, in your case High Silicon Hypereutectic, although it would not matter HS 4032 or lower silicon 2618 Forged. I have told you my opinion here, but...

    Is connecting rod bushings needed?

What I would like to know, is what POSSIBLE advantage you think you are gaining running "Steel on Steel" to Float a Rod ? You can answer your own question here ? The quick answer is NOBODY ever made "Floating" Rods the way you are planning ? So, any ADVANTAGES you may think you are gaining ...

    Is connecting rod bushings needed?

The stock "ly" Rods only require a "light hone" to full-float, no "Boring" maybe about 20-30 Minutes including Machine setup ? VERY cheap to do THAT way ? They are usually -.001" to -.002" interference stock, opening them up to .001" CLEARANCE to full float... so only .003" to Hone does not...

    900+ HP Pump Gas HEMI

You are Welcome if you are contemplating anything BB Mopar related in particular... just ask ? I've probably already built it and Dyno'd it over the last 35 years. Always good to see how somebody else did it as info. I am pretty much retired now... so no big deal. However, I do have to...
