I did, but I had a cracked exhaust manifold and I didn't want to drive it too much, but It shifted into second fine when I went around the block. It does seem to be leaking somewhere near the front however.

Here is the picture of the separator plate, looks a littlw messed up here. should I reassemble it without the steel ball or try to get one?

Nope! It's just the angle

Put some vice grips on it and it was a lot easier actually, I think it was just a grip problem.
