  • Hey, sorry I missed this for so long. I loved my Dart, I sold it last Fall. I was in a crash in my Honda S2000, an elderly person pulled right out in front of me and I totaled my car. Bad enough in the Honda, by luck I wasn't driving the Dart. I decided to focus on my 64 Airstream and let someone else have fun with the Dart. I also lost my garage space for it.

I had part of the engine rebuilt, new tires and some other bits. The car was great, but I rarely took people in the back seat. The 273 should be fine, you don't want nuts power in that especailly with four wheel drums. It was a super car, easy to get parts for and decent driver, given it's age. I sold it and bought a new Pilot to tow the Airstream.

Hope your project with the 270 goes well. I think these old Mopars were so well engineered that they can function even if they're pretty worn out, so you don't have to totally restore them to use them. That said, a rotisserie restoration would be great.

    Have fun

Beautiful '68 Dart. What's the latest on this car since 2008? I have a '67 Dart 270 2-dr hardtop I may (probably will) do a full rotisserie restoration on, but I'm also looking at a '67 convertible that doesn't need restoration. Exactly how much have you enjoyed your '68 convertible? Any words of caution for me? Do your passengers front/back enjoy riding in it with the top down or is it more of a windy inconvenience for them? My wife is concerned that she & my young son may not like the top down. Talk about your all-time bummers/dream-killers. My convertible would be a 3 on the tree but has buckets. I'd prefer a floor shift console manual or auto and it's only a 273 V8, but other than that, I love the convertible. By the way, I'm in NorCal, too.

    Thanks for your time,
    Casey Dart_270
