  • Were you ever able to find a less expensive source for the CamCraft D/Dart 273cam shaft?
    I ask because I have found that comp will grind one for about 200$ all you got to have is the cam specs... this is what they told us

    Have not pursued it any further. Have copies of the actual production cam drawings. Two of them. Gave them to Racer Brown but they haven't done anything with them. Maybe I should call Jim and see if he plans on doing anything with them. He said he would give me a came once he started making them. I'm still waiting.
    Looks like you are tuned in to the d/darts,please let me know if one comes up for sale
    I own 3 66 gt 273 4 bbl cars
    would love to own an original D/Dart

    Just to let you know,they aren't cheap. Probably twice the price of a regular GT. You should have picked up one of the ones that were auctioned. One is being road raced in Texas. Not sure where the other one disappeared to.
    it's has been a few years now
    and things change now and then.
    Do you remember the thread about the 273 camshaft comparison? I was wondering
    if the man ever was able to finish it.... I remember that you had a big interest in the thread also and that you are still active here , that is why I am contacting you.

    thanks for your time

    Unfortunately, Paul passed away. So he never finished the comparison. Wish he would have. I sent D/Dart cam info to Racer Brown a few months ago. Jim was looking into getting profile templates made so he could reproduce it. The cost for them was about $700 each or $1400 for both the intake and exhaust. Since it's really low production, it'll take a long time to recoup that money.

    I am very sorry to hear that.and us a real bummer.
    I was doing my home work
    on that cam a few years back, and found that the MP 528/284 mech cam was very close to that old D/stock cam shaft.
    and thought for the cost it was one of the best ideas
    also talking to Oregon Cam Grinders, out here in Washington and they had a few templates that were pretty close.

    Alan,

    I'll check to see Stck Class Winners in my Eastern Drag News archives to see if I can find any names in Stock Class
    * 1966 = D/S
    * 1967 = C/S
    * 1968 = F/S
    * 1969 = G/S

    AHRA as well.

    NASCAR Drag Racing should be;
    * D/S in 1966
    * D/S in 1967
    * E/S in 1968 > thru February when they ended the Drag Racing Circuit
