    Fusible link?

I am having a charging issue on my '68 Barracuda, 340. The VR is new. The alternator shows proper voltage. But I found that the terminal in the bulkhead had melted a bit at the fusible link and was corroded. Once I cleaned up the connection, the car charged better. What about bypassing the...

    Bulkhead corrosion = charging issue

thanks bill. that is good information. i guess i am confused, though: i simply want to make a connection that does not melt again. so i thought that i could isolate the power wire from the plastic bulkhead. this would not change how the ammeter works, though. would it?

    Bulkhead corrosion = charging issue

thank you bill. your answer has helped much. i wonder whether i can install a '65 bulkhead in my '68. i also did a bit of poking around on the so-called fleet wiring. why can't i run the power line through the firewall with heavier gauge wire, fusible link and its own grommet?

    Bulkhead corrosion = charging issue

thanks, 67dart273. i have seen that diagram and did the checks. what i was saying is that i have narrowed it down to the bulkhead. and am having trouble disconnecting the male tabs from the bulkhead. i am not interested in modifying at this point, though. i just want to be able to drive with the...

    68 barracuda wiring help

check your build sheet to see if you have the light package. i do on my '68. i believe then that you might have found the connection for a light delay, controlling lights in the seat wells.

    Bulkhead corrosion = charging issue

I've been grappling with a charging problem on my 1968 Barracuda notchback, 340 six-barrel. I thought it might be the voltage regulator, because testing showed it was not keeping up enough power. I replaced it. I eliminated the battery or alternator as the cause. Now I believe the weak...

    Regulator Problem '68 Barracuda

no offense meant. i am not using the blue regulator but the black one. i thought the screws would provide enough of a ground. but first i will try what you suggested in your list. thank you.

    Regulator Problem '68 Barracuda

thanks all! i will post some clear photos of what i took out and what i installed. if you would be so kind as to clarify what you mean by this: "Below is what your old/ original regulator looked like. you can see the "push on" terminal says "ign" and the screw terminal says fld, "field," green...

    Regulator Problem '68 Barracuda

OK. I took out the constant voltage regulator and installed another I got from Classic for the year and make. I am having the same issue - battery is discharging when I run the car. When I put on the headlights, the car quits. I have to jiggle the bulkhead connector and fusable link to get the...

    Regulator Problem '68 Barracuda

It turns out I have a p-3690732, which from what I have read is a constant voltage regulator. I also have read that it would produce too much for street use, although the car seems to be discharging rather than overcharging. Another writer says that the regulator is epoxy coated and does not...

    Regulator Problem '68 Barracuda

please, can anyone help me with this hot mess? my 1968 barracuda notchback is having charging problems. the dashboard ammeter shows discharge when i am driving. i know something is wrong because the headlights are dim, the turn signal makes the ammeter needle bounce, and my drip-charger...
