Most likely the grease inside the housing is hard as rock. you can grind off the rivets or drill them out and use small screws and nuts to put it back together

It looks like you have a 72- A-body. Read the enclosed document to insure that you have the correct non reversing motor. Make sure all your grounds are good including the switch. These motors require good grounds otherwise they will do funny things. Follow the procedure and it should work. If...

67 A Body should be a 3 speed controlled by the switch not the motor some parts are out there and they can be rebuilt

The motor on the firewall of your car is an aftermarket version of the mopar built 2sp. A 3sp/variable switch on a 2 sp motor will only give you one speed if you're lucky and it will park where ever it stops when the switch is turned off
