Hi!
just signed up to try to find some parts I need for my old slants. I fix 'em myself as much as I can, and maybe I'm not great at it, but I try. A 63 4-door got me started about 20 years ago...got it free because the neighbor had replaced all sorts of stuff and it still didn't run. The tow truck was on it's way from the junkyard, and I saved it! We replaced the condenser and she ran just fine on five cylinders for about 5 years before I put a head on Old Red.

Nine years ago I finally found a wagon I could afford! It came as a 2-for-1 deal with a 63 valiant. Neither one was running, but I brought my own carb and battery, fired them up, did a basic safety check, and drive them 30 miles to my home! I love these cars! The wagon did blow a wheel cylinder two blocks out, and so it took an extra day to get home, but the adventure was worth it. It was a sunday, so we took turns hand filing down a 67 wheel cylinder to fit.

Parts were cheaper back then. I keep saying "why didn't I buy that back then" when I see something at double the price these days. But the community is good and if I wait long enough, usually I can find my part.

Old Red is now in the garage, getting a whole new engine. After 400K+ miles Old Red deserves it. Put Old Red's newish head on the wagon, so it now has all six cylinders. And just put a head on the Valiant--the first time I did the swap all by myself! I have lots of spine problems and working on these cars is getting hard, so I do less than I did 20 years ago, but I do have good days, and enjoy playing around with my cars. I also like helping other women (and men) be self-reliant with their cars.

Hope to meet you and your cars sometime! Ann

Welcome. This site is probably a very good bet for you as most people yank the 6's and go for bigger motors. The 6's just become boat anchors here, I've given a few away over the years.

:hello2:WELCOME:hello2: Your going to like it here:D

I think Waggin made his wagon :)toothy10:) from a 4 door car and used sheet metal from a 2 door hard top to convert his wagon into a 2 door.

P.S. What kind of parts are you looking for?

well, since you asked...I posted on the parts wanted section about needing a rear end for the wagon. it is howling really bad and i'm not driving it if i can help it. never changed one before, but i have help if i need it and I love that feeling of having actually done something! got time now but not a lot of money, so i'm motivated! A couple people have messaged me that they might have one...i know somebody does somewhere out there... Other parts I dream of for the wagon and didn't post about...electric rear gate, passenger front door.

I posted about needing blue interior driver door panel for the 63 valiant, which maybe someone in NY has for me. yay!! 63 also needs an antennae.

Need things I'll get new like 2 heater cores, 2 speedo cables, fuel sending unit. just time, labor and money. Just learned how to pull the dash apart in the 65 and fix everything! I'm feeling real capable with dashes now! replaced the wiper seals, fixed short in ignition switch, cleaned it all up, but no speedo or temp yet. someone screwed up the wires pretty bad. Someday they will all get disc brakes. I'm in no hurry for anything as long as at least one is running sweetly! Right now it's the valiant. cheers, ann
