I,m wondering if the pinion length is the same for 8 3/4 vs Dana? Will changes need to be made on the length of my driveshaft...longer,shorter.Thanks for any input.:-D

They are the same length. My old drive shaft from the 8.75 days fit.

Hey Scott. The Dana uses a different pinion. The clamps are U bolt type. Length of driveshaft won't need to be changed, as cuda20 said.

You going to a Dana? Thats cool. You'll be glad you did.

Yep Bill,I,ve had my share of rearend issues, breaking off perches, twisting Strange axels, driveshaft issues, burning out sure-grips,etc..etc..I,m hoping to put a Dana in and end problems for awhile anyway.LOL.MoparFest is going to be a blast this year, but bring your own steaks LMAO.

Everything I've read says the yoke to axle centerline of a Dana vs. an 8-3/4 is a little over an inch different necessitating drive shaft length modification.

Here's a link to a chart on Moparts that says the Dana yoke to axle centerline is longer than an 8-3/4

http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/axle/5.html

If it's correct the driveshaft would need to be 1.12" shorter for a Dana.

shorter.

That's from the axle centerline to yoke distance making the dana 60 yoke closer to the transmission
