So I picked up a dart that needed some love for 900 bucks. It was complete and somewhat running lol. Only started with fluid and wouldn't stay running, the brakes were a joke, and it was on a spare with the wire showing :p There was surface rust starting to creep up everywhere, and most of the the gauges didn't work.

She had all kinds of surprises in store for me, so I got to work.

you can see some surface rust forming on hood in spots above

So I got to work and threw in a holley 4bbl, offenhauser headers, new radiator, edelbrock intake, flowmasters, cam and lifter kit, and just cleaned up everything :)

Then I got to work painting it... I won't reveal my method unless asked :p

I'm currently in process of redoing seats and carpet as well as new stereo/speakers will post pics later.

Can't say I've seen a paint job come out looking that good
Useing what looks to me like brush or roller. Still think it's great

Moe

The paint was applied with rollers, and it's all about the wet sanding in my case. I used tremclad high gloss regal red thinned with mineral spirits. I ordered the tremclad from canada because it lays down so much smoother than rustoleum. They claim little to no difference...but something is obviously different :p Anyway the whole job cost me about 60-70 bucks including sand paper, wax etc

Nice work man! No joke I have pics of this car prior to your owning it. Saw it at a Target in Escondido, and had to snap a picture of a Mopar!:D

If its up and running towards the end of the month, you should join us for a local FABO gathering man! I will keep you informed if you would like!

Sadly my Dart is now for sale, it's listed in the classifieds, but thought I'd tell everyone here as well. Life circumstances are forcing the sale, and i'm thinking around $3700 is a good deal for everyone? But please just make me an offer and pm for phone number.

Thanks Moe, do you think $3700 is a decent deal for both sides? I think it's definitely worth at least that.

Congrats on the Work, Just Proves what a little Elbow Grease can do!!:cheers:

Well. I'm no appraiser but I would saythats a good place to start. One thing I do
Know ,is the year I have had mine I couldn't sell it for what I have in it!!!!!
Moe

That's always how it is moe! but yah please someone make me an offer, it's a clean dart! I'll take 3300....that's a hell of a deal and I'm negotiable! PM me for phone

That's the way I will paint my 65 Dart, the "roll and tip" method you can read about in www.moparts.com (I think the most read automobile post ever). I have Interlux Brightsides Polyurethane. Already did my Dart's engine bay and trunk that way, plus my trailer. With any painting the results are mainly in the prep and inter-coat sanding.

Yah, it's all in the prep work, I'm sad that it was all for not, now that i'm selling it....
