Sooo,is there anyone out there that makes various retainers to allow different installed heights for valve springs ??And are on the shelves !!

I have always used shims under the spring to get installed height set up right and those you can get at any machine shop.

The installed height is where we're running into problems. Was wondering if there were different retainers that could give the heights needed ?

What I have had to do is get valves with longer stems and then shim to get back to where needed. If its only a few thousandths off you may be able to go thru hughs or comp cams and se if they have retainers that will raise the spring height up. Seems like comp cams had several different ones. Shame Crane Cams is no long er around. They had a full line of them for MOPAR.

here is an old racers trick... valve lift + coil Bind + .050" = Installed height...

also what are your numbers you are getting?

think my erson spings were a 1.70 or so installed

Longer valves should be researched because the longer length can put the rocker contact patch in a less desirable location.

You'll need to do some research to see which parts they have that will match up with your existing parts while increasing the installed height.

If my memory is right,he had 1.60 and needed to be around 1.68. I know it doesn't sound like much but you're kinda limited where you can make up the difference ! As for the cam,I still haven't found what I'm looking for so I don't have that number to work with either !!Some day this chitt will come together,I hope !!
