Just blasting off some oil and dirt off my 1966 small block 273 motor mount brackets. I didn't see any signs of paint or coatings other than oil and dirt. Was going to coat or paint them, but if they didn't come factory painted thinking I might just leave them as is. Thoughts?

All the ones I have seen are always painted black....

Satin black was going to be the color I painted them. Only had second thoughts when not finding any paint on them anywhere. No paint under bolts, backsides, or anywhere. Just had me wondering if they even came painted.

All mine were painted in oil...But cleaned up to be semi gloss black as the K was. Maybe they were caustic cleaned years ago? Perhaps the line that day was not painting them..strange.

Now that you mention it, all the ones that I have had were bare metal. Once you clean the grease off, they're not rusty though.

Mine on both my low mile darts were some were between semi gloss, to gloss. A little closer to gloss. Both K-frames were to.

I have talked with a man working for Chrysler and the brackets and the insulators came painted to the assembly line. To be picky they can have paint drips! Good luck

The engine mounts on my 64 Barracuda were not painted. They did have a very slight goldish color (like the varnish on an old carb) on them that came off easily when I scrubbed them with brillo pad. Color could have been from age and oil or could have been some type of rust preventative from the factory. I am not sure....
