Joe's Garage

Lol, cudachick; I have never meant a female that could listen to Zappa. Because they weren't paying attention to the lyrics. ...

Well, truth be told green1, within reason, I do a lot of things most other females don't or won't do. My Zappa collection is pretty extensive too. :-D

Almost finished with the main workbench frame out.

There's a reason for the odd layout of the legs on the tall section. I'm a righty, so I always prefer my vise on the right. I spaced the legs 16" apart and they will be getting additional bracing to support the vise and me yanking the crap out of anything in the vise.

The long spread from the vise area out is so I can slide my table saw under the bench for storage. I made it wider than needed in case I ever upgrade to a nicer saw.

As usual your attention to detail and thought out for a strong long lasting work bench is well on it's way Joe, I take it you are off call now that Monday is here
You have a great place there for your 4 wheel drive friends and Motorcycle friend to hang out and fine tune your rides
Did you get the fence the high wind took out repaired ? That sure was some bad weather you all had over there.

Wow, looking good Joe!! I see you left a nice clean spot on the wall above for your new PSC poster. :-D LMAO

Keep up the great work!

One problem I see Joe. If you make the bench level, then how will the ball bearings and bolts roll off without you seeing them? Where's the challenge in that?

Thank you very much Mike. The way I look at is that it needs to last the rest of my life. Still on call, but I got left alone tonight, so I just got done finishing up the framing (pics to come later).

Since I'm on call, I can't risk mixing up concrete, but I plan on getting the fence done this coming weekend. Yeah buddy, that weather sucked. Winter 'aint over yet here but it's supposed to be real nice out this weekend.

Yeah, I can't wait to have this done so I can start putting some stuff away and have a "Garage is Half Done party, lol.

Roger that Leanna! It's going above the tall section so my friends can't reach it, lol.

Oh Fishy, that's hilarious! You gave Joe Dynamo Hum ........ without question wayyyyyy too unladylike to repeat a few lines from, but I'm still sitting here singing it to myself, laughing and choking on my peanut butter toast.

I got a forty dollar bill that says Joe loves his new garage. :-D

And Zappa was where? Thread hi jack.

Well, you know I had too.... and it mentions a Dodge. :)

Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage - YouTube

And glad you did, Ramcharger.

I been listen to Frank for over 40 years (Geez I'm getting old!). Saw him play in Columbus, Ohio in 1975. As has been said, his music is a little too complicated for the general North American public, throw in a few potty mouth words/subjects and the women got so upset they created MAZ organization (Mothers Against Zappa - Ha!). Most people do not know that in Europe during the 60's, Zappa was the number 2 most popular artist next to the Beatles, ahead of the Stones and everyone else.

My wife and friends tolerate small doses of him, and I use this fact to have some piece and quiet when they start to bother me.

Setting here trying to think, which of the 54 albums I have of his is my favorite - a very hard question to answer indeed. Probably have to go with Weasels Ripped My Flesh, mainly because it was one of my first. Single song favorite would have to be "The Torture Never Stops". You can find that song on many of the new electronic juke boxes in the bars - when you do a search for it. This one has special meaning to my friends, who hate it, but agree with the title.

Thanks for contributing Ma Snart! I guess @ 46 I'm just a whipper snapper compared to you. I love hearing Zappa stories old and new and BTW, I have a very old connection to Wisconsin. Long story,,,, :toothy8:

I couldn't have said it better myself Mike!!!!

I attached the 3/4" chipboard (Norboard) from the bottom using 1 1/4" gold screws. This keeps the top clean looking, easy to sand prior to poly coating and makes it easy to replace in the future if need be.

You all might notice the baseshoe in the background. This will prevent anything from rolling or getting blown off into an inaccessable crack.

Shop dog was here to help, lol.
