rumopr is phoenix fire bird race way will not get there land lease renewed,,,its owned by a local indian tribe, and they want to build a casino there,,,

Its only getting worse. This is just one of the long list of reasons I'm getting out of CA asap.

My 97 2.2 swapped 85 Subaru BRAT would be on the road already in most any other state.

I know I didn't vote those liberal clowns into office....

Wasn't there supposed to be a strip opening in Perris in '05 or '06? Is this still the same attempt?

well guys ....brace yourselves! this is going to be happening more & more as the boomers who love & live the hobby continue to die off..... soon the "greenies" will geta bill passed to outlaw the classics as noisy oil leaking pollution machines and demand that they are all crushed..... TOO many connections have already been made and too many advocates for GREEN are on board with it!! Even though it has never ever ever been PROVEN that hydrocarbons are ruining anything.... there is no scientific data validating the supposition... but it was a way to morph the statu quo and reduce fuel consumption and increase profits...... not lookin for an argument...on what I have done better than 15 years or research on.....really do not care if anyone believes it or not...MY point is they have targeted our hobby and it is and has been under attack for quite a few years behind the scenes...now that they have a political foot hold....NOW is when the real fun begins...... from insurance to gas prices we are about to get spanked....enlighten yourselves and go to the meetings and raise some hell!! presently public supporters of our hobby are few and it is dropping in popularity ( kinda like the anti smoking campaigns)
YET everyday hundreds of millions of plastic water bottles are produced with no end in sight and millions of styro cups and plates are made & shipped all over the globe??? WTF?? OH ya and BTW electric cars don't save squat!! where do you think the electricity comes from outer space??? NOPE they burn FOSSIL fuel or nuclear plants generate it.... at best its a low grade highly advertised propaganda campaign!!! and the use of electricity has essentially tripled in the last 10 years!!! HOW exactly is that measured as GREEN???

Diesel will never have the political (and therefore media/pop culture) support of electricity. One large reason is the fact that we can come up with biofuels without political/corporate infrastructure meaning they can't control it and exploit it the same as the coalfire generated electricity and gasoline almost every hybrid scam machine runs on. If anyone in the political/corporate world was ever sincere about electricity, then WTF happened to the EV1? I can't wait till I move to a state that'll allow me to drop a Cummins in my RC.

I'm planning on being at this meeting.

There were approximately 100 people at the meeting this morning. Here's the important parts of what was presented:
  • A 60-acre parcel of land is available. Initial purchase discussion has already taken place. This is roughly the same size parcel of land as the old LACR in Palmdale. The land is currently zoned for future commercial/industrial developement so future housing issues are not a concern.
  • The local city politicians, and the politicians of adjacent cities, are in favor of development as a racing facility because they recognize the importance of the future financial impact to both Perris and the surrounding area
  • The future development will be governed by a board made up of local racers, and ownership of the facility will be by a local organization of racers
  • The next steps taken will be continuing negotiation to secure the land, development of conceptual building plans, and a focused environmental impact report. Everything will proceed "by-the-book".
  • Initial plans are for a facility similar to Auto Club Dragway at California Speedway in Fontana, complete with lights to allow for night racing.
  • Plans are for test & tune one evening during the week, and for weekly bracket racing events.
  • If everything goes perfect, racing could be reality by December 2012; but probably more like Spring 2013
I am on the email information list, as are all of todays attendees. I will keep you all advised of future information as this develops. Funding is currently being developed - I'll advise of future information regarding that as well as it is known.

Let's all pull together to make this happen.

This started happening a LONG time ago.

And not just in CA. FL used to have a nice short track oval open on Friday and Saturday nights. Went to it when I was a kid visiting relatives. Had a blast. Sat out in the middle of no where. Until the land developers came in. Built HOA's all over the place. Guess what's not there anymore?

I don't get it. Seems to me that IF you were to buy a house right next to something that has been there since the 40's or 50's you deserve "what you get."

I'm surrounded by farmers' fields. I know that going in. I'm not gonna ***** if he's slushing the fields.

Some people, on the other hand, think the world revolves around them.

Did this turn out to be another shot in the dark drag strip fantasy for us sokal people?

Yeah, sure looks like it Kevin. Not sure what happened to the whole deal after the 2012 elections. The guy who originally got the ball rolling was defeated in his bid for a state representative seat in Sacramento.
I just visited the old website that had been started for this project and there hadn't been any activity on it for about 9 months.

Sounds about right. Did not have high hopes on that deal. Will be shocked if the PAS stays open much longer. They built track homes right across the street from it.

Hey, ya'll......here's some pics from last night's Irwindale "test n tune" night on Thursday nights! Man, I had a blast! Only 1/8 mile, but Mopar was pretty well represented! $10 to watch or $20 to race.....can't beat it!
