what do i need for my 8 1/4 to handle slicks and power like high 11 power like 11.85.... i know i might not run this high but i want to know what it needs to run this....

on mopar chat there is a guy running 10s with a 8 1/4 so i know they can handle the power i jsut need to know what they need

:.:A lot of those guys are legends in their own minds!!!!!!!!!! It takes a very, very, highly modified car to run in the elevens. An 8 1/4 would run in the tens with the right gears, but only for a minimal time. I go to the drags at least 10 times a year and it is hard to run in the elevens. My buddy has the best of everything, no expenses spared, back halfed, 340 stroker, carb sent away for blue priniting, the works and he runs in the elevens. What i am trying to tell you do not put to much creadance in the numbers people put out as far as time slips. MY .02

Mopar Muscle Mag had a article about an 8.25 buildup. Said it would probably be good for up 500hp. Think I'd put my $$ in a heavier rear if I was going there, tho.

pagilman ... your buddy has all the best stuff and a stroker motor and only runs 11's .... dusterboy15 i would get a 83/4 but you can make your 81/4 work but you will need to spend some cash..

almost as much as i would for a 8 3/4 becasue i would need to ger some gears and sure grip if it doesnt have one

No, it does'nt it takes the right combination of parts and knowledge!!!

Lets take a poll and see what everybody thinks in there own mind what that means.
He he he.

My car is highly modified and I'm not sure it's even in the 13s.

But the engine is not very modified, if that's what we're talking about.

maybe my car would run an 11.99 at sea level, maybe not, but it is far from stock! That 8-1/4 might be ok in a real light car for 11's but nothing is entirely bulletproof. I would go with an 8-3/4 for more reliability but that is just my 2c. as long as you're having fun, don't get too hung up on the bench racing. Everybody seems to have an 11 second car but that just shows ignorance.

My point being to anyone out there that has an honest 11 second car, tell us what modifications you made and we will judge of they are heavy? Walt:mrgreen:

Which ever you choose install a drive shaft loop. Man the slicks I've had on a car before grab like crazy. LOL!

ok but i think i might not even need slicks i might use the tires the ABODYJOE is using micky thomson tires but i dont know if there slicks

I'll give you a real world comparison..with slicks my cars best 60' was a 1.60 something..with m/t street radials my car consistently 60's in the 1.47-1.52 area, without changing nothing but the tires,i'm sold on them so much i got rid of my slicks and use nothing but the m/t's now...

3400? dusters weigh that much? i saw less like 3000 and i weigh 170 and it says to run 12.3 all i need is 344 so like 400

Dusters can be as light as 2800 and a couple pounds with the /6. Thats what my reggie says.

Then I swapped in the 318. I have not been to any type of weigh station yet, but will in the coming summer.

Natural 318 Duster weigh as much as 3500+.

Now everything is equipment dependent. P/S, P/B, A/C, Spare tire etc.....
(Fiberglass is a wonderful thing.)

My duster weights 3430 with me in it,and runs 11.0's with a dynoed 519 h.p. at the crank.. and basicially a stock rear suspension:mrgreen:
