Re-manufactured Distributors

Anyone have horror stories about them?

I picked up a re-manufactured distributor four weeks ago due to my rotor button coming apart. I was out riding around Tuesday morning with no issues. I get home, switch the vehicle off, and come back 30 minutes... It won't start. I've checked fuses, wires, coil, and resistor. My ECU was changed out 4 weeks ago also. Only thing left is the distributor.

The two I bought had loose shafts that wouldn't allow the engine to run under 1000rpm. Bought a NOS dist and it worked perfectly.
 
Are you sure the problem isn't the distributor cap? There are some posts discussing many caps with the electrodes ground off center. Search dan's posts. If the shaft in your distributor is tight side-side, it should be OK. A little axial play (up-down) is fine.
 
Distributor cap and rotor button is four weeks old also. There is metal shavings on the distributor pickup. The reluctor has damage to one tooth.
