Has anyone looked into using later door guts in a second gen to do a one piece window?

I found this thread about darts:

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=164398&highlight=eliminate+wing+window

But to my knowledge, second gen barracudas do not share door sheetmetal with any later models, making an outright swap difficult without doing a door skin.

I was thinking i could take the window channels, regulators, and glass from a dart sport/duster (the real 3rd gen barracudas!)

If anyone else has looked into this I'd like to hear your thoughts.

its not the door skin that different between the dart and cuda(that is you concern). he curve is different as well as the size of the glass

Why in the world would you want to get rid of the wonderful wing window? I love those things. Best way to clear out burnout smoke and they are my AC units.

I sometimes fantasize about doing a mild custom 2nd gen and that would have been on the list of mods.

But....I remember reading an interview by one of the Duster designers. He said other than the short time line and lack of money (typical Chrysler), the most difficult thing was accommodating the extremely curved side glass. Trying to fit it into the door depth was the problem. IIRC, it was the first time a side window with that much curvature was used so I'm guessing it would be difficult, though not impossible. Also, the 67-69 windshield angle is way more upright than a Duster.

Ever notice that a 67 camaro has vent windows but the 68-69's do not? Might be interesting to take a closer look. Personally, I try not to look at them too much but they are everywhere.

Thanks for the info. I thought these cars took the same windshield and had the same a-piller, so I thought that part would at least match up.

I think my dad has a spare duster glass i can hold up to see if it is close.

I would think that 73 up dart 2 door mechanisms and glass would get you closer than dart sport/demon/duster parts. You may need custom glass made $$$ but probably possible.

I know nothing Duster/Dart Sport will work.
74 Swinger might work on a notch back and not the fast back. All depends on roof line, quarter glass, and how the glasses seal to each other. They aren't all the same.
Using the Dart door glass will require that regulator, etc.., which would put the wind handle in a different position.

The 73-76 two door darts and scamp hardtops (no vents) have the same windshield. If you wanted to convert a 67-72 Dart you could easily use the stuff from the right doner 73-76 hardtop. I think the door skin is even the same.

But the 67-69 Barracuda fastback and notchback have a different top cut to the glass. Maybe you could cut the 73-76 hardtop glass down. It's tempered glass, so I assume it would not be simple to cut/grind.

wish there was a way to add them to our daily drivers....when I lived in NJ I would drive with them open in the winter time, just cracked, to relieve the "stuffiness" that the heat created....
