sort of....Our roads are self maintained. We have a "road association" that my neighbor is President of. Jim has asked me if I would donate some time and work on the trees. Part of this is I agreed to haul the wood, all Ponderosa Pine, home and burn it.
Property owners have a yearly voluntary donation, this is to cover the cost of snow removal, grading and gravel.
Anyhow, the other day this couple stopped and asked me if I could drop the wood off on there lot, as they think they will be getting free firewood. They also mentioned that they will use it when they burn there trash....these folks are freeloading scammers. They tried to scam the owner of a house they were renting into signing the deed of the property over to them, but it did not happen. He claims to be Native American.....then he claims to be of Scottish decent and is wearing a kilt. The other day his wife had on the same style clothing as alot of the local Russian woman wear.
Back to the dilemma...I told them I would cull out anything large enough to burn as fire wood....just to get rid of them the other day. But I am thinking that I really need to get the OK of my neighbor before giving it to them....they do not contribute any funds to the road association....and I feel that by me giving them the wood for heat they are profiting from both my labor and the road association....which the sole purpose of it is to maintain the roads....not provide heat for folks...
If they contributed to the road association I might feel a bit differently...

Tell them since they have not paid the road association dues that you can't give it to them. If they want it they can pay their dues like the others. Technically you own it since it is unwanted and you are doing it for free.

If they get any of it then they should get the small stuff too instead of just the firewood.

so the agreement is for you to take home and burn yourself? you use it for heat?

if so i say screw the people not paying. why take heat from you (the guy doing the work). it would be different if they were people in need, then i could see donating wood to them. but a couple of scamming free loaders i say F-bomb them..

You mean to tell me you're letting a dude who is wearing a dress get the best of you!...Go tell him to find his purse and get the hell out of here!!

They wanted all of it. Thing is they have no water...and he has been known to do some real stupid sh*t....like shooting across the road into a piece of plywood for a back stop....with the round traveling over the river into a populated area....And part of my other issue with it is he wants it to burn his trash with...And finally what I am afraid of happening is they don't burn it...they move on and then we will be stuck looking at yet more unburned "slash" piles...

No heat, other than the heat from me having a fire out in the yard...
No Comment. :-#
Why start now??

Truth of the matter is burning the stuff is sort of like therapy for me...I can very easily pull out the big stuff, keeping a bit of it for fuel for my fire to keep all the little crap burning. But with them not contributing to the roads and getting heat of my labor I sort of feel like I am enabling them in a way.

Mos of the stuff I am taking down is under a foot in diameter. There are some larger trees, but not many. By the time this stuff is dry enough to burn in a stove it goes up like paper. Even then it is pretty damn sappy. The few folks I know that burn this crap have had either a chimney fire or the cap on the pipe seal up with sap...

If you are dropping the trees, let the guy know and tell him he has a day or whatever length of time you feel like giving him to collect it and transport it to his place. Otherwise, it's no longer available.

Just casually tell him the contributing members get first dibs.

I tell ya, you sure got some winners over there Doug. :)

I'd check with Jim. Maybe do it, but charge them for delivery. Even if it's only a few bucks a load. Do it once for free and they will think you are their delivery boy. F that.

As usual, Abodyjoe hits it right on the head. F-bomb 'em. If they want the wood, let them come and cut it up. It sounds as if they want want it cut up, split and delivered to their home with no work, effort or pay on their part. On second thought, deliver it. One piece at a time through every one of their freeloading dirtbag's windows.

I vote 'Let Jim Decide.' But I would not deliver the wood to their place.

I can't stand people who finagle (sp?) things to their advantage, looking for handouts without doing jack.

I'd say keep it for your trouble (as agreed) and if the freeloaders have the balls to ask you why you did not deliver free firewood to them- that you cut, just let them know there wasn't any extra to spare.

Who pays dues and who doesn't has nothing to do with it, it is not like you are delivering wood to all the contributors.

Interesting...

I am sure Yourself & Neighbor could come to an equatable $ amount...

(read) " I will deliver all the wood you want, cut, sorted , stacked,
---at the current price per cord local labor rate---".

CONTINGENT upon the CASH payment made to the Road Association
for said delivery(s').

p.s, in person cash payment.

Are any of the trees being cut on their property?

If so, leave them where they fall. Pushed off the road, of course, otherwise, take what you want and then-

How about he gets off his *** and helps you in some way???
Nope...trimming trees is my alone time...no radio, no wife, no talking to anyone. Sounds kinda goofy but after going out on Disability I felt like I no longer have a purpose. And thinning the sides of the roads has given me that feeling back. Not to mention this folks tend to latch on to people. Charity invited them over once....they then showed up every night at her place, wanting to hang out. Ditto for the Evans....these are the kind of folks that if they get a foot they will take a mile...More below.....

Dirtbag"s windows....aint got none...they live in a tent...more below..

None are on there property. They are only renters. Joe, this guys Mom, used to own the lot but lost it for failure to pay taxes. Person who bought it is renting it to her and her son/wife.
These people are welfare leaches. It is a husband/wife with 2 children under 3....living in a tent..with a wood burning stove...with no water/juice or crapper...they use a Homer bucket for a toilet. They also have a friend living in another old tow behind camper, and his mom lives in another one.
Charity's husband is working in California. So she is alone with two teenage girls. Jamie is 18, Lexi is 16. Charity owns the lot next to tent boy as well. It has a swimming pool/fish tank on it. Charity & her husband Jeremy were working on the fish tank one day and he stopped by. That night tent boy and his crew showed up at Charity's place, wanting to hang out around the fire. Next day Charity was gone, came home and there he was, cooking on her bbq. Few days later Charity went to town again, got home and there they were again. Tent boy grew some weed on his lot. His wife was breast feeding the newborn while taking a toke. Tent boy & his crew bathe in the lake during warmer weather. Lexi was down there swimming one day when they showed up. He stripped down right in front of her and asked her if she wanting to bathe with him.
Tent boy was friends with the Evans as well. The Evans were letting him run a hose from there well so they had water....as well as letting Tent boy use there trash dumpster. Tent boy & crew were going over there every night, smoking weed and hanging out in front of the fire. Tent boy demanded a key from the Evans, so he could let himself in to there place. Something about using there TV and computer. Tent boy also demanded a key from Charity for the same reasons.
The last thing I want to do is have this clown hanging around us. I moved out this way to get away from folks. That is why our five acres is fenced and the gates are locked. Based upon what I know of Tent boy if I end up "helping" them he will try to latch on to us like he has with the other neighbors...Not going to happen....

Then don't do it.

Seems like the solution is there already.

You took a cerebral approach to this. If "Jim" is the one in charge, and has agreed to a verbal agreement with you on his part,it should be his choice. Especially if anyone else has logged complaints, against this dubious bunch.
Voted with the majority.

I wouldn't give them the time of day. Sound like first class, grade A moochers of the highest calibre.

Steve

Tent Boy wouldn't last long around here. we use welfare leaches for fish'n.
