where I want to mount my msd6al in the engine compartment , the wires to the coil are about a foot too short. Is there any reason I cant add an extra foot of wire to make it reach??? would it change the ohms or resistance or anything like that???

Have they been cut? I don't run MSD, but I've seen others and got the impression they are plenty long. Where do you intend to mount the MSD?

It "might" be possible that the coil wires could be "too" long, but I doubt that a foot will cause this

Bear in mind that the two wires to the coil are carrying a VERY high energy pulse(s) much higher power than factory stuff. What this means is, that at some point those two coil wires are going to radiate electromagnetic energy......just like a radio transmitter in some ways, and just like high current welding leads in some ways.

This can interact with other, lower power circuits...such as the voltage regulator and other electronics, and can most CERTAINLY radiate radio noise. It can ALSO radiate enough power to false trigger the magnetic distributor, IE "trigger itself"

Keep them reasonably short, and "dress" them against the body metal to act as shielding.

Somewhere on the MSD site, is a pdf regarding interferance from / to electronic devices

I don't think the coil wire being one foot longer will make much difference if you can find one long enough, but one that has been spliced to be one foot longer.......... I probably would not recommend.

He's not talking about "the coil wire," LOL. He's talking about the coil POS and NEG wires coming out of the MSD box.
