Not sure what section this should go in. I have a 1974 Duster with out A/C and I need a retainer bushing for the right hand (passenger side) drive link. unless they are the same, I need the bushing where the right and left link together. Can I still get this bushing or a replacement, anybody have any ideas?

Check out the parts stores websites. There's also a couple of vendors on Ebay that sell them. I got a set of 6 from a vendor by the name of catesnorthwest.

Does it look like this? If so, RT specialties has them........

Thanks,
I actually had that same clip in my pocket and was going to NAPA after work to find something that might work.
Thanks again.

Replaced the bushings on my 75 Scamp a year ago.
NAPA part 665-1537 .Local napa stocked them.
I'm guessing they're the same as yours.but I've been wrong before!

Thanks 440,

Did the ones you got look like this? These look like the ones I need from catesnorthwest and they look like a good deal, thanks again. What are they made out of?

I'll check NAPA out and see if they are the same as the ones at catesnorthwest on e-bay. like to support local when it makes sense even it it cost just a little extra.

No it looks different, yours must be from the older Mopars. I would hate to try and find some of the smaller uncommon parts for those.

I got mine locally on one of those pats house Help section things without much trouble.
Do yourself a favor and put a small pinhole in the backside and a little grease inside them.
They go on a whole lot easier.

Hard to tell exactly from the pic but they do look pretty much like that. They are made of a semi-hard plastic so there's a little (not much) give to them to slip onto the linkage.

Do them all at the same time. To get the drivers side, pull the cluster, and leave the wiper switch hooked up; turn the key on, turn it on 'LO' and unplug it right before the bushing comes into the spot you can work on it easiest. Turn the key off. Do your business. Reverse. Have a nice day.

Thanks everybody,

I got the NAPA ones and like poisondart said I should of done all of them. That's why I'm now going back to NAPA to get enough to do the rest. They are a pain in the butt to get on though!!!

toss em in some hot water for a few minutes before you slip them on using slip joint pliers(I used a socket that fit over the plastic and channel locks to squeeze em on) make sure to lube the holes in the plastic that goes over the pin.

That works, but let me add to it.
Put them in the arm first and then on the stud. (just in case you were not)
Lube like stated above, and a small hole in the back of them.

Otherwise the lube seals enough that they will try to push back off when you let go from pressing them on.
They go on WAY easier.

Thanks guys, I actually got one on the stud just to have to take it back off and put it in the arm first because I couldn't get the arm on it while the bushing was on the stud. All the years I've been driving and I never realized how simple the windshield wiper set up was, a pain to work on though.

Here's my take... One bushing fails, always the same one, it has been in service 30 years or more.
That one or all 4 bushings are replaced. After a year or 2 depending on how much rain you get,
the same bushing fails again. Since it didn't last 30 years like its predecessor, the quality of the replacement part gets the blame.
If you find yourself replacing the same bushing frequently, have a closer look.
You'll find the root of the problem is in the left hand pivot post assembly.
Good luck

to post anything ( like tag ) in a thread creates a subscription to the thread so its easier to find / refer back to later.
To use the dropdown at the thread tools button will achieve the same.
