Really? Nothing I've seen said anything about this. I've only ridden in a chopper up to two different radio sites. Didn't like it much. We had an employee who was junior to me, who I had to kick in the *** to get him back in the airplane. The pilot had told us "we need to leave" as weather was closing in.

About 1 minute after we got off, you could not see the mountain anywhere. With all the tower guys and other crap "up there" that's not a comforting feeling.

My boss and I "had words" and then HE went and "had words" with the other employee.

The other site was nicer, a clear day up to "Chewelah Peak" otherwise known as "49 degrees north" There had been an ice storm and heavy snow which ruined several antennas off the tower up there

Sorry for the people on the ground. I got now use for members of the press. Just how it is.

I work for a major helicopter company. from the accident report it was either a crane or a wire. leased helo, just bad for all.

My best bud flies a Robinson R66 here in the Vancouver area and he was devastated when he heard about this. He flies every other day and I have been with him through bright sunny days and terrible stormy weather. Flying in these things is an acquired taste and definitely not for everybody.

He was telling me that in 9 out of 10 wire strikes, the pilots knew they were there. In this case though, we will never know.

I've got almost a 1000 hours in a Huey and have had several occasions where I almost had a wire strike. I did hit the top of a small tree once but no damage.
