I am building a 700hp small block engine.

Was wondering what is the best option i have for a transmission.

Because of the engine being installed on a small body I would prefer to stay with a 904.

Ideal will be for the transmission to withstand long bracket racing seasons, equiped with transbrake and full manual shifted.

What transmission brands do you recommend me

Thanks

I would have Dynamic Transmission in Branford Connecticut build me a 904 as their warranty
far surpasses anyone's - Phone:(203) 315-0138... They can be found in " National Dragster "

Cope Internals with their Manual VB or Trans Break, Dynamic Converter

pro trans...they also make the ProFlite which is base on the 904 ...they also have numerous gear ratios available..

I know of a 68 barracuda with a 2.66 1st gear and a 70 Duster with a 2.89 1st gear in 904s...

Dynamic is not in CT anymore, they are in Delaware. I'm sure they build good transmissions but I believe they are known more for their converters. I spoke with them recently, good guys.

Pro Trans is probably who you want but they are $$$$.

There's also A&A.

Ultimate gets a lot of recommendations for converters.

if you are building a 700 hp small block...which is probably not cheap....

make sure you go cheap on the trans...and use a 8 3/4 rear with a pinion snubber...

Guys... Thank you very much for the information...

The car is already equipped with a beefer rear end....

The car is a actually a japanese vehicle and will be powered by a 360 stroked to 410 and 150 shot of nitrous oxide...😆😆😨.... I know is not the most preferable body for you mopar guys.... But I love mopars as well and this is the reason we are using this powerplant

The rear end is a ford 9 inch with a 4.10 gear ratio

What body is it?

It is a Hyundai Stellar... We have been running this vehicle with a straight 6 cylinder engine....Now is time for some serious torque...:D

Mine is a 410 CI Small block and I hit it with a 200 Shot of Juice. I would say I am running right at 725hp + through the trans right now. I build the transmission which is an A904 myself with the help of 70aarcuda and Crackedback's Recipe. I am just about done upgrading to Ladder Bar and Ford 9" with 4.30 gears. I should be back on the ground in the next couple weeks and out for test and tune.

I was a Hyundai tech for a few years. I never saw or even heard of that model. I had to look it up. Looks like a K car.

I've seen people bracket race minivans, front drive Toranados, S10 Blazers, snowmobiles, all kinds of wacky crap but I can't say I've ever seen anyone with an ancient Hyundai 4 door sedan with small block Chrysler in it.

RMChrgr...

Dynamic transmissions are in Connecticut...
Dynamic Convertors are in Delaware...

Frank Lupo and Harold Miller are no longer together

And you do realize that Dynamic Transmissions were once called Fairbanks and was owned by Harold Miller and brought in Frank Lupo and when they combined, they changed the name to Dynamic...

I didn't realize there were two Dynamics that used to be one in the same and the one one still existed in CT. Sorry for the misinformation. I knew Frank Lupo was Fairbanks though, I just thought the whole thing was now in Delaware.

I actually grew up in Stamford, Ct. where Fairbanks was but I would have been too young to have had anything to do with them back then.

Actually Harold Miller was Fairbanks transmissions through his dad who then retired and Frank Lupo came into to the picture with his knowledge and the two became partners..

Back to their transmissions. Harold built me a 1962 727 which is still trouble free and been in my car through 5 engines. The guarantee was 1 year unconditional and that was 25 years ago.. I wouldn't go anywhere else...

Mad dart... Please keep us posted... will be nice to see your results..

That recipe is a mix of Tony and mine works well.

The WIT transmission site has been a disaster since the "improvements"...

Definitely go 5 clutches. Buy thin rear clutches and steels for the front drum to make a 4 clutch drum into a 5 clutch. Sometimes it may require a quick surface of the pressure plate to gain required air gap on the pack.

Most all of the "trans builder" kits are nothing more than a transtar or similar kit reboxed and marked up.

They are cake to build, nothing difficult and requires no special tools. Any tools that you may need can be made pretty easily.
