Caution - Tale of a long distance slacker

I agree with Bruce, don't give up on getting some/all of your money back! Definetly contact the law in his neck of the woods, ill bet they know him pretty well and know just where to find him!!

Also, my comments are not being directed right at you, and I appreciate you bringing this to light! I am commenting on my observations from recent scams like the one you are involved in! Any time someone can't send clear, descriptive pics, can't accept Paypal, can't have someone do the above for them, wants payment through Instagram, is vague, or any other common scammer techniques, I can bet its a scam!

Again, I'm very sorry to hear that you are involved in what looks to be a scam, and am very appreciative of you bringing it to the peeps, now I hope you can put this POS where he belongs!! Geof

I am not going to get my parts or the $150 - However as a group with can learn and protect ourselves for future.

I strongly urge you to call the Police Department in his town as I suggested earlier. Its a small town and I bet they know him. Maybe a detective will go down there and have a chat with him. Its worth a phone call.

I agree

I wouldn't write it off without at least doing that

Exactly.

If a detective were to approach him and start throwing terms like "internet fraud", "felony", "theft by deception" etc etc, and suggests he square up with folks like you (especially if the detective can provide a name and a parts list) it's possible that he will fix the problem.

It's certainly worth a try.

I also noticed on his FB page that he made a comment about the Chillicothe Police having their own page and accused them of spying on people. That's paranoia and guilty conscience talking right there.

Gentlemen,
Trust me, I am following up.

Cosig - funny things is I have about 40 to 50 text, photos, and general personal conversations in text from this guy along with about the same amount of phone calls. Guy knew what he was talking about and was spot on until the first package arrived, that was his trigger. He was calculated in his approach.

DO NOT SEND ANYONE MONEY ORDERS --- EVER! Whoa Whoa Whoa there Joey!! Not everyone is a scammer and since I dont have paypal you are basically lumping me into a catagory with the few bad idiots who scam people. I am very honest and try to sell parts to fund my projects as well as help as many people with theirs with my parts that I removed with more blood sweat and tears than it might be worth. Cosgig is my brother and many of you have dealt with him and I can tell you if he thought I was scamming anyone he would be the first one over here kicking my azz. I have no problem giving my info to someone who might be skeptical about sending money orders. Just saying! its a bad rap when its a "DO NOT" opinion.

You've also been a member here for 6 years. Your not a member that's been here a few months and has only a handful of posts. For me, that changes things a bit. But at the same time, you have to understand, there is no security with a money order.

As I said before, sending someone a money order is like leaving $100 bill on a bar and going to the bathroom. Don't be shocked if it isn't there when you get back.

That said, you should get paypal.

He uses my Paypal sometimes, just did when someone said no to a deal because he didnt accept it! Told the buyer to send it to my Paypal and the deal was done!! Funny, but I would be leery of that as a buyer!!

Too bad in this world we live in that everything seems suspicious, or could been seen that way!! Geof

So, he has the parts you paid for, but sent you others instead?? What a total POS, why not just do the right thing and send what people pay for then!! I hope you can nail this idiot to the wall!! Geof

Plot thickens:
Looking around I found another number for this subject: (740) 851-7095, I called it he answered, hung up and succinctly blocked me.

I've not been a FABO member very long, but I do feel better about belonging to a group of people that are concerned about dealing with folks who honor or dishonor their word.

Our WORD should be the most valuable possession we have in this world.

Thanks guys for concerns posted on this thread....

Looking around CL and there's a couple Mopars from chillicothe, thought if see his name beside one!!

He's young. I would find out who his parents are. If they are honest folk it may be a form of accountability for him.
You may also be able to get to him through facebook friends.
He drives a mustang. He may be on mustang forums.
Definitely contact the police.

He might have already seen it, if he tried to log in and couldn't, lol. He may have looked using another source to see what's happening.

It also turns out he's on probation... If the police don't get you anywhere, call his probation officer.
