What is the most popular backspace on a 15" x 10" rim?
I am in the process of shortening my rearend and want the most options/choices for wheels in the near future.
I would have thought that 5" offset would be.
The guy at the local wheel shop says that 3.75" offset is.
Mind you he wasn't interested in selling me anything other than 20" or 18" wheels.
I have moved the springs in and mini-tub is already done.
Thanks,

I don't know what a popular backspace is, but mine is 6.5 on my 67 fastback with springs moved.

Depends how much you narrow the rear end. My brother uses 71/2 inch back spacing on a stock width rear end.

That's kind of the point.
I haven't narrowed the rearend yet. I am planning on doing it this weekend if I get my new flanges in by Friday.
I can make it any length I need still, and haven't picked out any wheels yet that I really like. I am still hooked on ralley wheels.

On a side note, is 3/4" clearance from the fender enough space or should I leave a little more room?

Has anyone tried the Mickey Thompson S/R tires?
I am looking for a 28"/29" x 12" app, x 15 tire and these fit the size I am looking for.
Well at least the 28" does the 29" they have in that design are 15"-18" wide.

To big.

After my mini tub, my stock rear end would have required 7 1/2" of backspace to run a 15X10 wheel as mentioned above. The wheels I wanted came in 3 1/2" inch backspace so we chopped off four inches per side. My wheels and tires fit like a glove.

Worth mentioning, after it was all said and done, the disc brake kit that I installed required wheels with no more than 3 1/2" backspacing to keep from hitting the hoses. Something additional to consider.

best idea is to get your wheels and tires first, then measure up and narrow to fit.
When I went through this in 99, 15x10s were 4.5 bs, to run 295s.I narrowed an extra 1/4 per side, just in case. Glad I did cause I needed it, for the 325s. Better to be a bit narrow than a bit wide. Too wide you are fubarred. Too narrow, you can add spacers.
I run 325/50s on the track, 295/50 on 4.5bs on the street. 68 Bcuda,.oem tubs, 3/4 offset hangers, stockish ride height at the sills, no rubbing, some massaging/trimming, axle relocated rearward about 1/2 inch.325s are a tic under 28.
