Help!
I am restoring a 1974 duster that came to me with the rear shocks off the car and sitting in the trunk. The rear wheel wells have been tubbed prior to me getting the car. When I try install the shocks I find that the angle is too great. Do I just have the wrong shocks or am I doing something wrong? The third picture is of inside the trunk looking through the fuel fill tube hole. Thanks in advance! Ron :)

Somebody did a hack job on the car. The shock studs are suppose to face towards the rear, not towards the center of the car. But swap the shock mounts to the opposite sides because the studs are also suppose to be inboard of the springs.

That may have been an effort to clear the exhaust. It may need to be redone. Just a personal opinion, but it would be better to have the correct leaf springs and not have to rely on air shocks.

This pic is under an Aspen wagon, but it shows the proper configuration of the shocks and shock mounts on a Mopar. (F bodies and other later cars had a different set-up, but this was converterd to the earlier, "regular" Mopar style to use SS springs and readily available race shocks.)

Looks like you need new shock plates ...at least

Side to side, and out the back, is correct, as said.
So is setting the ride height with the correct springs, also as said.
I managed to fit 3 inch TTIs under my 68 S, with stock type HD shocks and nearly flat springs (lowered)and mounted inboard 3/4 inch.Yeah it was tough. But it was all a matter of positioning.
Good luck

so if I take off the shock plates and turn them to the rear... will that work? Hey Big- B you got those pictures? Thanks in advance. Ron :)

No, they are installed on the wrong sides as well. Turn them towards the rear and swap them from each side so the shocks will mount towards the inside of the springs and not the outsides.

Here you go.
