Is anyone here running the new Fitech EFI system? A complete EFI system for $995 sounds almost too good to be true. Also with the integrated ECU and no need to mount an external box, It would make for a very clean installation. Anyone know anything about these units?? http://www.fitechefi.com/default.asp.pg-Products

sounds interesting. Not sure about the ECU being mounted directly to the throttle body though.

I'd be interested if anyone has any experience with it as well.

Never heard of 'em. Lot's off interesting "stuff..........."

Ditto. Fuel system is the expensive part

I saw them recently at a car show. They don't seem to have typical injectors. Seems like fuel just squirts out of little holes in the throttle body. Kinda reminds me of a toilet bowl flushing. lol Go to 6:03 minutes in the video above to see what I'm referring to.

Looks like throttle body injection. It says near the beginning it comes with either 4 or 8 injectors for 400 to 800 hp.

It's known as annular. Supposed to create better fuel distribution.

If you go to the 4:00 minutes mark he touches base on it. Its better at atomizing the fuel then just having a single shot coming out of the injector directly at the back of the intake valve.

I don't think so either Rusty. Everything is integral in this unit including the regulator and injectors. So what's needed...... A high pressure pump and filters. Big whoop. Most people already have hard line ran from the tank to the engine. Seems like a really simple install.

Walboro pump is what, 80 bucks? You don't HAVE to use fancy tube, use parts of the old fuel line if it's in good shape. Might or might not need a regulator.

If this thing is reliable and well supported, it could definately "fill a niche"

It might also give some good competition to "the others"

There website says it has a built in regulator that is already preset from the factory.

I agree with the competition thing. Hopefully this will make the other big box FI systems drop their prices to a more reasonable level.

For the fuel supply they offer this: http://www.fitechefi.com/default.asp.pg-GoEFISystemFuelCommandCenter
Looks like for $995 for the Throttlebody setup and $375 for the fuel center that works with your existing mechanical fuel pump, you are good to go. I like that it comes with all fittings and such.

Really does look to simple and straight forward. Just wish I could find someone that has one to see what their experience was like and if it does what they claim. Also how well that ECU in the Throttle body holds up.

I wonder how the spark control works in conjunction with the mopar distributor?

I looked around and couldn't find any for sure reviews, just theirs.

Some FAQs

A quote:

Do I need a CDI box to control timing?
No you do not. Our ECU can drive your coil directly, BUT it can also fire a CDI box if you have one or wish to use one.

But.........

If I have an HEI, can I use the timing control feature?
No you cannot. You will be running what we call "Fuel only". You still have an awesome system and we love this setup due to the high reliability of the HEI so don't be afraid to keep yours if you have one. They are great units!

I have been looking at the MSD Atomic EFI. Although expen$ive, it seems very easy to understand. This system seems to be similar, but costs much less. I am wanting to know why. Certainly SOME of it is in the MSD name, but that cannot be it altogether.

1 - Why are your systems so inexpensive?
We like to answer that with another question. Why are the others so expensive? It's a throttle body, 4 injectors, a few sensors and an ECU. Not much there when you really break it down. Our OE ties allow us to source components at a great rate and our engineering is spread over many projects so it is not all rolled into the price of one system. We have been designing OE systems privately for 16 years and believe that the only way the EFI will EVER replace a carburetor is if the cost gets more reasonable. We have been working to make that happen and this is the first step. Expect more in the future ! Go EFI!!
