What did you use to polish it with?
 
Course steel wool then fine then White Diamond chrome polish applied with ultra fine steel wool buffed by hand
 
Looking good baby. When you are polishing things and searching for widgets you are on the other side of the mountain in getting done!
 
If I'm on the other side of the mountain, I'm only one step off the summit. I've been all over the place lately trying this and that. I have a long way to go but we're getting there!
 
Stick with it DD. I had more BS with the 72 getting **** to go back where it belongs. Finally have the car sitting on rims and tires, aligned and ready for final touches. It requires a NC inspector to switch my VA title to NC and put it on the road but I am getting no reply. Guy who was supposed to build a custom box for stereo and trunk bailed.
 
Not to hijack one of my favorite threads, but gotta make a comment to maybe help Dartn440. There was a new law passed in NC a year or so ago, that says the DMV has to send you a title if the DMV Inspector doesn't get to you within 30 days. Do some research to make sure I'm right, but if your VIN matches your VA title...you should be good to go if you applied for an NC title over 30 days ago. Good luck.....and now back to the regularly scheduled awesome Duster project! :prayer: :D
 
Great info there! The reason why we bought Misty was, A she had a valid title, and B in New Jersey there is no inspection of any kind for historic automobiles!
 
To help get closer to completion, and have more dollars for other things, I have decided to use my original bumpers, refinish them with Killerchrome, and remount them without the inner bumpers so they are tucked in nice to the body.

They are straight but pitted. I sanded the front down with 220 and its smooth. Doesn't look bad and they are good candidates for the killerchrome treatment.
 
Our car did not have fender tag when we bought it. I found a place that makes reproductions, but I have no Idea what the content of the tag is supposed to be.
Any suggestions as to how I find out?

I should say that the work doesn't stop. We solved out electrical problem of Lawfawnda eating coils ...no, we did not add a ballast..ran it for awhile to make sure it was solid ...then got rid of the MOPAR stuff and moved up to a MSD system. Calum said it was well worth the pain.

It continues to be a blast to work with the kid... wish my dad had the same prospective but they were different times..

I am building a coach for the kid out of the old front bench seat..will post pics when it is done..
 
Which site did you use for the reproduction fender tag? A while back someone stole the tag off of the '69 SIXPACK Superbee my buddy has. (one of my old cars) We checked into a few different places but didn't find anyone willing to make us a replacement if we didn't have the original or enough other providence to prove it was truly an original 440 SIXPACK car. We've known the car since new but the original owner passed away long ago.

I didn't get one form them yet because I need to figure out what is supposed to be on it.

My car had no tag when I bought it either....Also I found NO build sheet under the back seat...Not sure if you are in the same boat as I am??? How are you supposed to have a reproduced fender tag made if you don't know what codes are supposed to be there???

I was thinking my Tag should be: F.A.S.T. = F*cking A$$hole Stole Tag
 
You can look at Woody's post a few posts back that website can give you an idea of layout....
 
Well it looks like we sold our house, and found a new place across town that in a lot of ways is an upgrade for sure. we currently have a nice 5 bedroom home that I rebuilt 2 years ago, but we only have a 1/4 acre lot. Not much elbow room.

The new place is only 4 bedrooms, so I'll need to add a 5th right away, expand the kitchen, replace all the windows, bla, bla, bla but it's on an acre lot so the Mrs says make it happen. Looks like we close the middle of January.

I have been busy with all kinds of family stuff, and this is my supper busy time at work, but I have done a few little things here and there and we have been gathering parts from all over the country. My son Aaron pulled the bumpers that came on Misty out our stash of parts in the corner of the garage and I made the executive decision to refinish them with KillerChrome. I think we have the patience to do the job right and get good results.

Lets see, 4 bedrooms, one for you and the wife.
Kids, boys sleep in one room, girls in another.
Extra bed room for car parts.
I see no reason to add on......

Congrats on the the up-graded place.
 
Oh no. Every kid gets their own room....
My wife and I get the new one....
 
Good plan, make the master bed room huge, large bathroom, his and her sinks, water-jet bath tub, walk in closets for each of you, do not cheap out.
Are you building it on the second floor or the first, I suggest the second, with a nice recreation room under it.
 
After you are done with the house you should be able to do whatever you want with the Duster! Keepin the Mrs happy is the key.
 
Now you need that red Duster parked in the driveway to spruce the place up!
 
This brings new meaning to "pick and pull"

One of the many things I'm thankful for is to be the proud owner of a Plymouth Duster, even if it's still under restoration. Also thankful for everyone on FABO
