getting a quote from hagerty ins. for my 68 fastback. they won`t cover cars that are not kept in a locked building. they won`t cover it on the dragstrip, they won`t cover it if you stay all night somewhere else and it gets stolen. they won`t cover it as a daily driver. said they wouldn`t even cover it in the staging lanes setting still-if someone hits it. or even setting in the pits, and not entered in the race program! what the the hell good is it !?!going to look into some one else.

Try Grundy had a good report with them. They paid for a engine fire also. Hagerty was a PIA trying to get coverage.

tried the online quote-didn`t get anywhere. guess I`ll call. also found out state farm covers them too. altho I had a very bad experience w/ them on a stolen p/u back yrs ago.

I did mine online no problems. Wonder why? I have full coverage, 100 mile towing can use the car whenever except for business, 3k in spare parts around $160 a year.

what kind of coverage ? sounds good compared to what I`ve been told .

12 k on the car collision, fire, theft, and glass. Really a good company they just paid 2300 out on a engine fire I had. Definitely look into them.

I think you're going to find the difference is in what you say the car is for... Ray's car is a DD, but it sounds like you are planning to race - that changes things -- makes you a much bigger risk.

I have mine as a DD 71 Plymouth Scamp - they have no idea that the car is essentially a race car - didn't cost me chit to add it to my policy, BUT I am also well aware that IF something happens I am very likely not covered... replacing my car would set me back 20k easily (and maybe more like 30k) - I doubt they would pay out 10k if it were totaled.

I use State Farm -- 33 Plymouth, and 65 Valiant. -- Prices are competitive. -- I have 3 Daily Drivers with them. Perhaps that makes a difference.

I don't know how you pulled that one off, I got a quote from them, and was told I could only drive it in parades, to car shows etc. If I wanted to go on a Sunday afternoon cruise, nope, no way I could do that.

You can also check with JC Taylor. They are in Upper Darby Pa. I've been using them for 40 yrs. Good rates.

Hagerty. Been with them almost 20 years. Numerous claims. Always quick to pay. No I can't use any of them as dd or leave them unattended. But I can drive them anyplace. Cruise etc.

Have Grundy on my duster insured for $30k Hagerty wanted $200.00 more for the same coverage can drive it all i want..but mainly race it now, when ever on the trailer my truck insurance covers it..

can drive it all i want.

Man, that is really strange, I was told the exact opposite by a rep on the phone. I could only drive it to events. No just hopping in and going for a cruise on a Sunday afternoon.

With Haggerty I can drive it all I want, shows, parades, Sunday cruise etc.

Mine is a more door?
Will be for 28-$30,000 coverage. Don`t do car shows, (always liked go more than show, most all show cars are phonies), only time it will be raced is at the mopar meet, or maybe the old time drags, but not this yr. Want it insured for every time I drive it, which will not be a whole lot, but not just special events. it will be locked in my metal garage, and no one else will drive it w/ exception of my son (1 time) and daughter who is a cop one time, wife probly won`t want to, because of the noise (3.5" exhaust-tuned down ahead of rear axle), and no a.c. or power steering. Going to call grundy and state farm tomorrow. ----any other suggestions welcome------

I have had Haggerty on my Barracuda for 10 years insured for 14,500$ agreed value 200$ a year [in 2015],covers towing and parts and tools too, i can only drive a total of 5000 miles a year split between shows/cruising and parades [i did 4500/500] must be in a locked garage [no appraisal needed below a certain value] just photos of vehicle and garage. I tried State Farm [my regular auto policy's are with them] they wanted an appraisal, photos yada yada yada, i went with whom i have now. I only use my car for cruise ins and shows i do not ever just take it out for a spin on Sundays if i need gas i get it on my way to a show. I'm very careful to lock it and disconnect battery when its parked in my shop and it's always covered. Insurance company's don't like giving money away so i am very precise on following their rules.

guess I`m going w/ grundy wordwide. $30,000 agreed value, $100,000 coverage where it counts, no mileage limits, covered everywhere I take it, no under 25 drivers, only won`t be covered going down the 1/4 mile. will be covered in the pits and staging lanes tho. has to be locked up at night. was quoted $225 a yr. over the phone. they`re sending papers. sounds like what I wanted so far.---jfyi -- thanks for who ever suggested grundy! front end alignment shop today at 1:00, gertting closer.

i think you are going to find out most won't insure unless in a locked garage, most have limited use and use restrictions and a lot don't insure on the drag strip..

I just got an email response from my Haggerty Insurance broker. I asked him specifically if I would have coverage in a Hotel parking lot or parked on the street in front of a friend's house if I was away on a family trip or gone to an out of town car event. He said absolutely I am covered fully just as I am in my garage at home.

It is spelled out quite clearly in their policy that you are not covered at the track unless you are in the visitor parking lot or involved in a car show held at the track.

I am insured for a value of 20k for just under 200 bucks. I declined their road side assistance so that saved me a little. I was leery of Haggerty when I was looking into it online, but I met my broker at a car show, he was there with his own car. He really helped me out with questions etc. Even today, I emailed him that question and he responded in less than an hour.

I'll stick with Haggerty for now because I don't think anyone will cover you while racing and I may never get to the track the way it seems!
