Wanted to see what some of you are running for solid roller lifters. Application is a stroked LA small block. I was running a set of Comp solid rollers. Cant remember the part number.

Ran them for two full race seasons, and started noticing that I was having to tighten up the valve lash a little more than usual. Tore the engine down, and found the axles pushed up into the body on some of them. Also had some rough places on the rollers. Thankfully the cam looked ok. Not wanting to go back with the Comps. Just want something that will hold up and be durable. With the Comps, they fit without having to grind the block for the link bars. Would like to stay with that luxury if possible, but dont mind having to grind for clearance if it is for a lifter that will hold up.

So who makes a good one? Howards, Crower, etc?

How much lash were you running? Spring pressure? I have the same lifters and only have one summer on them but all I've heard about them has been good.

I have been running the Comp Cams 8043 roller lifters for about 5 years. I have made a couple hundred passes and a lot of street miles. Maybe I need to check them.

when I replace mine I will be looking at the MRL ones. I like the idea of the rollers being fed by oil pressure not just splash.

Got no idea on the spring pressure. I was running 20 thousandths lash on the intake and exhaust. Mine were the 8043 lifters, and if you do a google search, there are some other guys who have had issues with the axles being pushed into the body.

Had that problem a few year back when oil companies kept changing additives. Switched to Brad Penn and haven't had a problem since. Just something else to look at. I have 300 lbs. of seat pressure on my big block.

I run VR1 20w50 with Lucas break in additive.

I run the MRL Pro Plus lifters. .815 roller, pressure fed, lightened up some IIRC, only about 1100 miles so far and 25 or so passes. Spring pressure is 200+ lbs seat 600lb open on this engine. Haven't noticed any issues so far.

Those are good lifters.

Those are good lifters.
Ran them 2 summers now. 4500 miles and quite a few passes. They are made by BAM products who I believe is a guy who used to work for Morel. He's out of Lakeland, Florida. Must have a deal with Mike at MRL.

I actually need another set and left a couple messages at MRL. No reply back. NOT sure if he's still operating or not.

Oh yeah. I tried the Comp 8043'S. Oil puking issue. NO COMP products for me.

I think there might have been some health issues in Mike @ MRLs family, be patient, he should get back with you

Yeah. He posted a couple months or so. Hope things are OK. Nice guy.
In the meantime......I might have to find another source. They look EXACTLY like the 1200 dollar Morels xcept for the linkbar.
