You blew up the first 416, didn't you?
Blew up..more like the "cheap" connecting rod came apart..too much power.

Street car all the way. All steel, OE flat hood, OE bumpers, mostly full interior. 9.5" converter, 4,000 + stall. 904 with FMVB. 4.10 gears, 28" tire.
I tried to take some videos on the dyno with an old digital camera but I messed up and only managed to get a brief, fuzzy one during the break-in. I'll have to look on the camera later, I don't remember whether I kept what I had. I was pissed off that it didn't work. If I have it, I will post it.
I bet yours with more convertor a 950 Holley and a intake would. Be pretty nasty
your right the video sucks (lol)couldn't really hear itStreet car all the way. All steel, OE flat hood, OE bumpers, mostly full interior. 9.5" converter, 4,000 + stall. 904 with FMVB. 4.10 gears, 28" tire.

you have me thinking about putting my 4200
dynamic convertor in mine just to see
Was that a chassis dyno, or engine dyno? Just curious because mine is 512 HP/ 526 TQ at the crank, and the best I've been able to do is a 7.06 in the 1/8. That's with a manual shift, reverse pattern 904 and dana 60 with 4.10's out back. It's in my Duster.Amazing, I built my 416 almost two years ago and still have not run it. Doh!
I put it on the dyno last April though and it made 500 hp and almost 500 ft lbs. of torque over a pretty broad curve. I tend to think it was making a little more than it showed because of the correction factor but who knows. A better intake and a regular volume oil pump would have freed up about 15-20 hp.
I think it will get my car into the low 11s if not the 10s. My car is now lighter than it was before.
It sounds nasty for sure.

Engine dyno. I thought it should have made more power, I was thinking it would have been at least 525. The dyno guy laughed when I told him what i thought it would make before we started, I think he was a little surprised when it was over, he said it ran good.
Though I may be kidding myself, I tend to believe it makes a little more than what the dyno said. I'm not really sure how the correction factor worked out but what I saw flash on the screen was between 519-521 on all the pulls.
The air that day was not that bad, maybe the DA was a little high but it was cool and dry for the most part. They dyno operator used a psychrometer so he wasn't just guessing.
What does your car weigh? Last time I weighed my car, it was 3,060 without me and a full tank of gas. I figure with me in it and a half tank, it would probably be under 3,200. Weighs less now.
Also, when I built my trans, I decided against using a low gear set because I didn't think I needed the extra torque multiplication off the line. With my old high-winding 340, yeah but not with the stroker. The low gear set also causes a larger loss of RPM between the 1-2 shift as opposed to a regular planetary set.
What's your engine combo consist of?What cam and gear?
Is yours on e85??I have a set of Brains RHS heads on my 408. I run low 6.80's in the summer heat, and mid to high 6.70's in decent air.
Run it on E85.
Did I mention that it's hooked to a powerglide transmission? If I had a 3 speed in it, it would go low 6.60's no problem. Have seen the difference in the glide vs the 3 speed many times in other cars. I bracket race pretty heavily, and use the glide because it doesnt hit the tire as hard off the starting line.
This is in a 3200 lbs 71 Dart
3020...
What's your engine combo consist of?
Nevermind. I just found it in post #53. With the light weight and 4.10 gear if it doesn't run in the 10's something is drastically wrong
Is yours on e85??
Can we get some engine details
Whatever you wanna tell yourself..lol.. the motor ate ****...with what connecting rod again, eagle?Blew up..more like the "cheap" connecting rod came apart..too much power.
Is your ride frame connected, a spare in the trunk, jack , stereo , back seats ?Engine dyno. I thought it should have made more power, I was thinking it would have been at least 525. Too much air in your head is more like it.Was I talking to you..and yes it was an Eagle rod COULDN'T handle the power..you WOULDN'T know what that is like..
Not sure what it weighs, but it doesn't have a heater, wiper motor, or outer front bumper brackets, and I cut out most of the huge rear bumper bracket and cut away most of the bumper dampners. In all, I've probably gutted 150-200 lbs from it. Still has a full interior, for now. Probably somewhere around 3100, plus 200lbs with me in it. Maybe less, I forgot about the weight of the spare tire, radio, and jack that's gone, and my wheels are lighter than the originals.Engine dyno. I have factory stuff that handles more, get a real machinist/builder... and hey now, don't forget about those posts from years ago where you say your eagle stuff is top notch and everyone who says otherwise is an idiot...lol I love the search function!
btw when you really do make too much power, if you ever do, tell us what its like...being a pussy!
