So many variables here...I realize this is for fun but it won't prove anything unless you do it scientifically.
We know this, however, a lot of hot air being blown on a couple other threads with these two engine owners smack'n the chops .. :D I thought this would be a little fun, and maybe somebody will learn from another persons success on their own build

340 stock stroke, X heads, single plane intake , 750 double pumper, Hooker headers, 490 lift cam ....345HP on the Dyno
Engine went 12.90 in a 72 Scamp with 904 on street tires, later went 12:80's in a 4 speed Duster both cars had deep gears.*

* Built the same the 383 should win on the dyno every time.

Pretty stock ‘69 Dart setup.
‘69 340 stock stroke, .040 overbore,
9.8-1 compression ratio
factory X heads, no porting
Factory 340 exhaust manifolds
Edelbrock 750 cfm carb
NO power adders
3.23 gears
727 auto
13.37@102 mph

See the video here:

What springs?

Streetable 340 with intake, headers, small MP cam, out of cam at 1000 feet, mechanical fuel pump, slapped bars and a JUNK Holley carb goes 12.4x at over 109, almost 110.

Did pretty much the same back in HS with a 72 Demon. I took money from many BB suckers of all persuasions.

New combo should go mid 11's with zero sweat. Could go more easy, but don't want to add a roll bar to the car.

Edit: cam was MP P4452992 which is 280/280 .474/.474 on a 110.

Not the cam I would have picked, but it is what it was.

Oh crap, I mean, still trying to get into the high 14's with it. Don't let jpar see this.

a dyno will compare hp and torque...the bigger cubes should win.
383's built with more hp and torque were faster in a light A body, but the better balanced
340 was usually quicker.A lifelong local racer often said engines he built with higher HP did not always et as well as lower power builds, and i also think he said he cut back the torque for his best times.
