hello all I have a friend that works at a scrap yard and he had a 66 barracuda formula s 4 speed car show up to get crushed so he pulled it aside for now and was wondering if there are any hard to find parts that should be pulled off before it gets scrapped, car is fairly complete minus interior and rear end, my knowledge of the early a's is limited but so far I told him to pull trans shifter and all linkage with pedals, the adjustable valve train off the 273, I think the exhaust manifolds are one year only on drivers side? are these worth keeping? it has most grille parts and it has 150mph speedo and tach. is there anything else that should be pulled off that people are looking for? hate to send hard to find parts to scrap, unfortunately I cant keep them all or save the car, I hate seeing this stuff get scrapped. thanks for the help all

shifter hump should be cut out also. I would pull the wiring harnesses if in good shape.

yes floor hump will be cut out, it does have intake and carb but not sure if its 4bbl I will find out, wiring harness likely in rough shape

It is amazing what people need from cars I have parted a few, some times the proper head stamped bolts! I am always looking for core Distributors and door hinges to rebuild if the price is right.

Any locks with keys or not, and also any switches/knobs The back window is usually big $$$$$

Yeah backwindow will come out, no locks with keys and yeah all trans components

So much is possible, should post a few pics be surprised what people need.

I have a couple I'll try to get some more this week

I see a ton of stuff on there for sure, he willing to strip it you can easily get rid of a lot of it before it gets crushed.

Grab the center link people are always looking for them.

Good thread. If you start parting it out let a moderator know and we can change this thread to "parts for sale" or you can start a new sale thread. Scrapping out these old cars is good for the hobby. No reason for good parts to go to the crusher. tmm

Dam if the harnesses are bad I would take all the connectors cut off, always looking for them.

blue motor is a 2-barrel I believe
Can't speak for the '66 273, but my '67 273 2-bbl is painted red. Pretty sure that's the original color and engine, as I've owned the car since 1974. IIRC, blue paint means a 318 LA engine, which was not a factory option in 1966..

That doesn't look like the original air cleaner housing- originals didn't have a manifold heat door.

You should get the whole car from your buddy and sell the parts. So nothing goes to waste, There is a lot of good stuff. Save these parts!!!

The fender bleaker lights are had to find in good condition, also a working instrument cluster... If it works and is good shape I may interested .

awesome thanks for the suggestions guys I'm going to check out the car later this week and hopefully give him a hand stripping it

Make sure you grab the tach can from under the drivers side kick panel! And the rear window plastic trim pieces on the inside corners, the rear seat hinge lock bezels, the drivers side fresh air box, the entire gas pedal assembly, the trans crossmember for me, the trunk lid prop rod, the fold down panel for the trunk pass thru...aw heck, just take the whole darn car home and I'll be over to pick it up!!

The dash with instrument cluster, wiring and the tach " tuna can" to start. The wheels should be 14" x 5.5", hub caps and chrome lug nuts. Looks like someone already got the 8 3/4" sure grip. Front sway bar and control arms for it. Bucket seats & seat belts. Formula S fender emblems. A- pillar trim.
