problem ended up being a stuck needle and seat in the thermoquad.. it was sticking closed.. i blew some air in then it was sticking open and flooding... then it stuck closed again..

i went in to the basement and grabbed a thermoquad that i've had wrapped up in a rag for over 10 years.. it ran awesome back then. bolted it on and bam it runs.. it needs a rebuild but runs enough to take it for a drive around the yard...:)

i have to bleed the brakes yet and that tiny steering wheel sucks.. i have to find a a stock size one for it or i'll go nuts..

gettng there slowly..

That's awesome! Congratulations on the maiden voyage, the first of many to come

that old carb musta been full of the quality gas they used to sell ;)

That was great! What year Valiant is it? Pictures or link to build thread?

Putting a 440 in it like your old Valiant? Lol!

its a 64. there is no build thread.. i bought it a few months ago.. wasn't getting gas to the carb., had busted leaf springs and still has a few things i need to straighten out.. its just a 318 4 speed.. the friend i got it from went 14.5 with it hoping the rear tires like crazy..lol.. i just want to cruise it around top down this summer.. no need for it to be a race car.. though i'd love to do another big block one..:)

if it were a nicer car i'd fix that ugly *** black engine bay..lol... gotta get rid of that stupid little steering wheel.. can't stand it.. just doesn't feel right..

yea some one along the way put those stupid things on the hood.. not sure what they were thinking..

Your car is very unique, 64 ragtop, 4 speed.
My fourth car was a 64 4 speed six that I put a 340 in with cragars and fenderwell headers (all you could get at that time). Kicked many many Chebbys but with it.

They were thinking it would make it look sshhpoorty!! Just like Mopar did when they put 'em on 'cudas......................

thanks man.. trust me it looks way way better in pictures.. gonna fix a few things on it then decide if i want to keep it for a bit or just sell it...
