Hi all

Have owned many mopars, mostly C bodies, but recently decided to fix up an old A body that had been sitting around (my first) a 74 duster slant six

I'm 57 and trying to fix it up as a 70s period piece back when I was young

Never had an A body when I was young, back then I was young and dumb and owned alot of 'Stangs

Around 30 I discovered Mopar a 67 Dodge charger 440 auto, and never drooled over a Ford again but then married with children happened and it was mostly C body cruisers and the occasional B body nice looking grocery getter

But the boy is grown now, the wife? Don't ask........?? But time to have some fun..... So it's my "mid-life" Chrysler.

I plan to keep the 225 in it ...........with a few mods

The car is basically sound but oh my God what they have done to the interior ! It looks like it belongs in a low rider,...... With matching wiring. I about have it sorted out and ready to install the factory buckets but I'm remembering the "Mopar love hate, we'll have that part next week" relationship..... But I love it more than I hate it so it's all good
Anyhow, hi everyone and wish me luck

Welcome. This is a great forum. I always liked Dusters. If you plan to keep the six, that's cool. I always like to see the classic Mopar A Bodies at Car Shows with nicely detailed /6s.

@Steve 225

Welcome aboard.

What's the plan?!?! (With the car.)

I also had a verity of makes and there models when I was younger. I don't call it stupid, I just call it tuition! LMAO! Never a Ford though. 1 Merc later in life as a daily driver. '86 Cougar.
It's a good education.

The little deuce & a 1/4 (225) should be able to move that car well.

FWIW, and yes I know you just got the car, but, when time and the wallet allow, the yellow slapper bars can be removed in favor of new stronger leaf springs. In which you can order in a 1 inch over bend from springs and things (@ espo.com) and the extra long shackles can take up space next to the slapper bars on the for sale section to get some money back into your wallet. The new 1 inch over bend springs will sit right about the same as you sit now.

I used them on my '74 Duster. I did an/6 to 318 swap. The car launched straight with the new springs. Not a problem!

Also just a FYI, site supporter/advertiser PST has excellent front end rebuild kits. I like them a lot.

I've actually had the car for 5 years now, just recently took interest in it
The traction bars and air shocks I've just added
It's going to be a period piece and in my day bigger tires on the back, traction bars, air shocks and a thrush muffler and you were on your way to a hotrod
Back in the day the old man down the street used to build and run slant sixes so I'm planning on higher compression, headers, cam and 4bbl
Not wanting an 11 second street machine, so long as it will smoke the tires and rumble enough to make the guy in the vette next to me a little nervous I'm happy

Welcome aboard!...nothing wrong with a /6...I too had a '74 Duster /6 that I used as a commuter car for a short time back in the early '90's. Ran like a top! Only option was an AM radio, not even carpets!
