Hey Guy's
Many of you know that I just completed the dyno runs on my new 418 Stroker. Well I ordered my Doug's headers from Summit on 3/12. I was originally told the delivery date would be 3/16 which was fine but then changed to 3/23, then 4/3, 4/5 and NOW 5/25. I have had enough of this and I am going to bite the bullet and buy the TTI 340A-C5 which is $816.00. That's $172.00 more than the Doug's but what good is buying something that apparently doesn't exsist. My question is that the TTI's say that they have a "slip tube". Does this mean that they go through the steering linkage like headers of old? This was one of the things I was looking to get away from and Doug's didn't say anything about this. I am HOPEFUL that I can get a set of TTI's here for this weekend but it's 10:00 AM and they don't open until 11:00. Thanks for your help.

Hi Glenn,
I have TTI headers, they do NOT encompass the steering in any way as all tubes are above steering. The rear most tube on drivers side is slip fit as it goes around torsion bar as I recall. If you haven't already may I suggest some new motor mounts at this time to make sure engine is sitting in proper location within compartment.

Tried to order Doug's also last week, with a 20% off coupon from advanced auto, no go.
It would have been nice for only $475 a set.

Thanks cpearce,
How did I know that you would be helpful here LOL.
I did order a new set of motor mounts but as I understand TTI has some measurements that assure the engine is sitting in the compartment within specs. If the engine needs to be raised I can use 6 cylinder mounts, which are thicker. I really appreciate the help, thanks again.

I used new Schumacher polylock mounts and my engine placement was perfect.

Yeah, they appear to be on FOREVER backorder. I surely can't wait until 5/25, I'm having trouble waiting until Saturday. I guess I can install the engine and then put the headers in afterwards.

I will give them a try but they have a disclaimer on their site saying that due to the popularly of the mounts the wait can be considerable.
If I were doing it again I would line engine compartment with towels, set headers in laying against inner fenders then lower engine down. I had my torsion bars out when I installed my headers from bottom.

That's what I was thinking but if I don't have the headers I can't halt the progress. Did it take long to get your TTI headers?

I'm in Canada, local vendor had within 2 weeks.

Same with me, also in Canada, local dealer had to my door in about 2 1/2 weeks, plus, the after sales and support from TTI is first rate!!

I ordered raw steel Dougs D453 from Advance back in Feb using their 20% off. Got them in 2 weeks. The discount maxed out at $50. Speedway Motors on ebay used to list them but they're stating "none in stock."

I don't know how anyone ever finds anything on Advances sight ! I never can... neither can the order line !

If you still have the heavy duty plastic shipping bags the headers came in, use those to protect the header upon installation .

Well I found a place that has a set of TTI non polished ceramic coated headers on the shelf (silver). What do you guys think? ordering them will allow me to put them in BEFORE I drop the engine in or I could wait, install the engine and put the polished headers in in about a month.

Whoa! I gotta tell ya brother, that’s your call. How fast do you want tyour be on the road vs what it is you want to finish with.

This is why when I see something go on back order I kill the order. People lie. On a regular basis.

If that stuff ain't on the shelf I find something different.

Sucks for you because we know this has been a pretty long process for you.

FWIW all the headers I use have slip tubes. The headers I have now are all slip tube and slip on collectors.

Here are mine polished. In grand scheme of things a month isn't a great deal of time. Get the ones you want or you will always be disappointed with your decision.

You are absolutely right. I just called Summit and cancelled the order for my headers. Seems to me that an outfit as big as Summit is should be able to stock these. Anyway, thinking about it and after talking to Iron Mike on the phone he convinced me to go with the silver ceramic coated TTI's so I ordered them from Indy Cylinder Head, they will be here by Saturday

Hey guys,
Do the dougs fit W2 heads?
I have a set of E body 340 TTI's for sale, because they are going in a 71 Scamp with a 416.
So I need to get a set also. TTI did tell me they would sell me one side(DS).
Thanks
