Eight Speed Automatic

Fitting the transmission can be done but there will be a LOT of cutting and welding because this transmission is gigantic. The biggest problem is the electronics of it all. The trans is fully electronic, even the shifter! You'd need to either install an entire wiring harness from a donor car or find some other way to fool every one of the sensors involved that everything is in place and functioning normally.
The Wife and I have a 2015 Challenger R/T with this transmission. It is a great unit but until DiabloSport or some other adventurous soul learns to make a stand-alone computer for it, it is impossible to retrofit into an older car.

stack 2 4sp lencos....end up with a driveshaft 4 feet long and 8 shifter handles, half of them would be in the rear seat! Who need a clutch?

I don't understand with all the software experts why someone hasn't done a Megasquirt/ other controller for these. Hell you could SELL that!! "I sure ain't" LOL The transmission is entirely controlled by software/ external electrical

Frankly as light as these girls are, not sure it would ever "pay"

I`d like to see someone come up w/ a 4th gear adapter that does nothing but THE 4TH GEAR, NO SPLITTING OR EVEN WORKING IN THE OTHER TREE GEARS ON A 727, THAT WILL TAKE SOME SERIOUS H.P. . (as always disregard the caps)

I have an inside source that told me Mopar is working on a stand alone 8 speed, but even they are having issues getting it to work

Can you explain what you mean? The ratios on a 727 based (A518/46RE) are such that 2nd gear OD and 3rd gear non OD are essentially the same overall ratio
If you have a 46RH version, you can get them to work easy, just solenoid control. Shifting the later RE, tho requires a computer OR I HAVE BEEN TOLD you can get a manual VB for them.
