Daves69.... I loved those Ramchargers. Do you still have it by chance? I'd love to own one.

No I don't :(. I've progressed to a Rosie Rustbox Ram:wtf:. But it was a fun truck. 360 4 speed. That top was heavy though!

I seen there was a '75 listed for sale on this site in the last couple of months. Looked liked a decent deal.

Sorry a little late to this thread but....
If your slider didn't have enough room/ travel and bottomed out......The spring had to bend, as there was nothing else to do.
Just a Hypothesis.

Caltrac's my be a better idea. They are lighter for sure, and the power your making might be the best idea.

One other thought could be that you Crushed your spring perch. Seen this happen on a tractor pulling pickup. He used the car perches and it only made a half of a pull and stuck the pinion strait up and pull the driveshaft out.

check your perch and your u-bolts.

U bolts are 5/8 custom made by a semi truck shop. They will never fail.

I think the spring was just old and tired. If the new one fails then I'll do some serious looking. When I change out the spring I'll look close at the perch.

Just reposting this from your other thread. That shackle sure move a long ways.

So you are just going to buy a fresh set of SS Stock Springs????

So you got the cal's or the SS Springs?
if cal's did you go with the mono leaf?

See below. This was my post in Cope's other thread. I'm positive his springs are worn out. This has nothing to do with his sliders. I can't wait for him to put the new springs I anf put this to bed.

To the OP. I'm guessing your 5 year old springs were just worn out and gave up with the first full throttle under the new found power.

I ran SS springs for 5 years on my Dart. First 2 years with a gutless 318, next three years with a 400 horse magnum and lots of track time.

One day I walk out and the passenger side spring had given up. Dropped about 3 inches. Ordered brand new SS springs from summit and haven't had any problems yet. They lasted me through drag week so I'm thinking they are good. Also making much more power now because I procharged the magnum.

New springs are in. Just kinda cruising around. May do some hard launches later.

Old spring dont look flat?

But the new spring does sit in the right location?

You think the old one just went soft?

So where's your Gopro, so we can see them new spring in action!!!:steering:

My buddy is gonna lend me his. It may rain tomorrow so not sure when I'll get the video.

get one giving a friend a ride like I did where they're just taking kind of upward angle of you banging gears!!!
like the one I did where I bang second the steering wheel just swinging left and right!

He said he will bring it to the shop tomorrow and leave it for a while so as soon as it's not raining I'll try and get some video.

I'm just not trying to mess around in the rain yet.
:)

Just a little motivation for the leaf spring racers out there.

This car ran a 4.19 on leafs.

Lol. I wish it was as simple as bolting on a set of leaf springs. A months pay for most of us may and I said may cover the rear shock cost

Lol the heads alone on that car have well over 10k in them. It ain’t cheap and it ain’t easy but it can be done.

Who would believe a 6 or 7 sec 1/4 mile car could run on leafs. I love it ! that Dart looks killer and is set on kill.

I take that back. The actual ET I saw him run was 4.13 @ 183. The car will drop your jaw in person and the best part is that it is still powered by a mopar!
