I have both a '65 Dart coupe and convertible that I want to restore back as Go-Go's. Both cars are/were the correct yellow color originally. I need to find the correct color codes and stripe dimensions for each car. '65 Go-Go convertibles used an offset 1 large, 1 small black stripe on the driver's side. The coupes used a centered black triple stripe combination of two small/one large like the Barracuda Formula S. Can anyone give me some advice on this? I'm pretty sure Ulf knows the codes, but I don't know about the stripes. They were painted on, and, as I recall, the Go-Go coupe I had in high school had red primer under the black, because it began to show after numerous waxings. I've attached a couple of jpegs that show the two different stripe patterns. I tried to upload a picture of the Dart GoGo brochure, but the file size was too large. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have the factory literature for the stripes dimensions and exact locations. I will have to dig it out and see if I can scan it.

If Don doesn't find them I'll get them for you.
BTW, that will probably be the first time ever since 1965 you have two gogo Darts at the same place! Can't wait to see them!

I dug out my original lit on the stripes and figured it would be quicker to just snap a couple of pics - so here you go:

Color code for the stripes is BB1 or your basic black gloss enamel.

Thanks, guys! This is exactly what I needed for the stripes. Now if anyone knows the correct paint codes or formulas, I'll be set. BTW, my cars will be just like the ones in the Go-Go brochure - the convertible is an automatic, and the coupe is a 4-speed. I could have bought a better coupe, but the one I did get has exactly the same options (sans the Go-Go mods) that my high-school car had. I was hoping to get it done for my 50th class reunion this July in OKC, but I just don't think that's going to be possible.

I've attached a picture of the convertible after I installed the correct steering wheel. I found this wheel on ebay. I have another one I bought from a FABO member for the coupe. Still need the correct Dodge horn button, however.

Thanks again to everyone that responded.

Just re-read the posts and realized that some readers may think I needed the color codes for the black stripe only. I need the color codes for the yellow paint that came on 1965 Dart Go-Go's and Dart Chargers too. My apologies for the mix-up.

It was 881 and changed to something else in 66 I believe

That brochure came in handy ! lol

Yes it did! Plus now I have two of them since I found the one I lost from Ulf. I'm planning to have it blown up to poster size so I can use it for motivation. Thanks again for helping me get it.

I'm not real familiar with paint codes. Is this number something I could take to an automotive paint store and use to get the correct color paint?

881 was the pale yellow while BB! was the black. If I can find my Ditzler color chip chart, there's probably some other kind of 4 or 5 digit number that a good paint supplier would use to mix the paint. Or check at your paint store and see if they have a 65 chip chart. The store I use has chips going back into the 30s or 40s.

I bought a GoGo Dart convertible (authenticated by Ulf) in 1984 and bought every piece of literature I could find through Hemmings and at major swap meets like Carlisle and Hershey. Unfortunately the rusties got too much for the car so it got parted out 2 years ago. I did replace it with my 65 Dart wagon.

Great! I have a local auto parts/paint store that is pretty good. Also, I've seen color code charts from 1965 on ebay, so I might pick up one of those too. If you find the Ditzler number I would appreciate it. I bet they could probably cross-reference it with something else.

Thanks again.

I bought my convertible with the idea I would use it as a parts car but after I looked at it I realized it was too nice a car to part, so I decided to build a couple of "brochure" cars. My coupe is pretty rusty around the rear wheel wells, so I bought a 2-door sedan for the quarters and some other parts. It's going to be quite a job. I'm good with all the mechanical work, but the bodywork will be a stretch. Many years ago I built a bug from scratch that had been bashed up into the rear window. I welder a rear clip on from another VW, and it came out pretty nice. I just plan to take my time. I was always curious how you would authenticate a GoGo unless you had the order sheet, since a dealer could just order the wheels and paint the stripes if they wanted to.

Thanks, Ulf. I appreciate it. Your cars have been a real motivator for me the last few years and have helped inspire me to attempt restoring the ones I have. When I bought my convertible I immediately thought of the one you are restoring.

I have both a Ditzler (PPG) and DuPont paint chip charts. First one is PPG, 2nd is DuPont. The PPG uses 5 numbers (81515) for paint mixing while the DuPont uses a different method (4698L). Hope this all helps.

My dad handed me his 65 Dart convertible project last year. He gave up after 13 years of "tinkering." Came with dealer installed AC and a power top. He found a set of 14" Cragar S/S wheels at a swap meet somewhere for it as well. So I've been looking at the GoGo Package to finish it off. While looking over soooo many pics of brouchures and the dealer promo video, has ANYONE noticed the difference in the stripes from the promo vid and the tech manual?
