I recently chatted with Greg (Trailbeast) and found out that he doesn’t build his HEI systems’ anymore. He said the 4secondsflat system is good, but I don’t need a system like that. I have a stock 73 Swinger and just wanted to upgrade the ignition a bit. I was wondering if someone bought one of his systems and now can’t use it because their build took another direction and they now need a more performance oriented system. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I used this setup with a 98 Silverado. I ordered one that had the module and coil together on one bracket, but the module was the 8 pin design so I swapped it out for a 4 pin

There's nothing wrong with what you have. Buy the 4 seconds flat limiting plate, put a good curve in the distributor and go.

The smaller HEI like ignition that you can buy for LA's on Ebay is just a Bosch 4 wire module in a can on the side of a LA distributor. Hundreds of models run this simple ignition module. Bosch ADY17 or BIM024

Just be SURE to use the 4 pin module only..no 7 or 8 pin as they add 10 degrees of advance at mid RPM

Oops, meant to ask: can I remove the points and reluctor in my existing 1968 distributor and install the 1973 electronic pickup and reluctor in the same 1968 distributor?
