9/11 - Never Forget, Never Forgive

-
I was home (west coast) eating breakfast and watching TV. They were showing replays of the first airplane hitting the first tower and I thought it has to be a science fiction movie.
While I was watching, I saw the 2nd aircraft hit the second tower live. The shock was indescribable.
What got me was the fact the government at the time let Saudi Arabia off with a "stern talking to". We should have done more in terms of the correct retribution.
Instead, we got nothing-------------I'm pissed-------------I will be pissed until I die--------------------

never been to one in the US
(dont know why not, i spend a week in VA, just outside of DC and should have gone to Arlington)

but i have been to a few across Europe, The Netherlands, Belgium and i believe, France

the one that always gets me is this one (generic internet pic)

This Canadian stands in solidarity with you. I will not forget either. I remember my co-worker coming in to where I was working, face ashen, telling me a plane had hit one of the towers and it was burning. We were sent home shortly after and I ended up watching the new almost the whole day, alternately sad and angry. We are your neighbours and your friends even if we have some disagreements, that will not change.

Don't see a 9/11 thread yet.
Let's bump this one.
We really shouldn't let it pass without recognizing it.

Receiving the go-ahead from flight control, both jets’ afterburners belched out thousands of pounds of thrust as they took off and headed northwest, the last known location of the fourth plane. Word came to them that they had shoot-to-kill orders. Knowing that they had taken off with unarmed aircraft, that could mean only one thing. They would be flying a kamikaze mission, ramming into Flight 93, a Boeing 757 aircraft, nearly 7 times the weight of their F-16 fighter jets. They had agreed upon the plan of attack. Sasseville would head for the 757’s cockpit and Penney would aim for the plane's tail. As they sped out beyond Andrews Air Force Base, flying low at about 3,000 feet, they could see black, billowing smoke streaming from the Pentagon.

I've been watching the 911 specials on TV today and it makes my blood boil to relive the horror of that day. It's hard for me not to hate. As a retired firefighter, I lost a firefighter friend that day. He use to come down on St Patty's and walk in our parade along side his brother F/F's in Tampa. Fl.

Worst day outside of family members passing that I can ever remember in my 76 years! Was working as a systems/network tech at a hospital when it happened and the whole place (except for direct patient care functions) went silent and froze in place watching the horrific events unfold on the media. Never will be able to understand or forgive the mindset that leads to this kind of cowardice.

God bless all those killed, injured, disabled and their families and friends. NEVER FORGET!!!!

I'm home watching all the specials on Discovery.I haven forgot about the 1st bombing, all the embassies, movie theater, commisarry, bomb scares in school, and ect.....Kill em all

Had business in NYC two months after 9/11. When I came out of the tunnel into Manhattan there were soldiers on the first corner I saw, in army combat uniforms with weapons. Put tears in your eyes to see that here. I love being in that city for any reason, it mad me so angry and sad that day. I can remember the feeling like it was yesterday. May they rest in peace.

From today's ceremonies. This gentleman (Nicolas Haros) lost his mother and over 200 personal friends and co-workers.
His response to US Rep from Minnesota "Some people did something". Never Forget!

Its heartwrenching seeing all the names at ground zero, brought tears to my eyes seeing all the names.

It’s hard to forgive, but it’s what God wants us to do. He will use the evilest of evil to further His kingdom.

That being said, it was a very sad day. Still gives me a big lump in my stomach just thinking about it 17 years later. But, I think it has awoken patriotism in this country to a point! God Bless America!!

Our Wednesday night sermon was about this tonight. Like it or not, we are told to forgive.

Not to be argumentative, but I think there is a popular misconception in pulpits and in general about "forgiveness".
Forgiveness implies reconciliation.
If the aggieving party does not repent of the offense , forgiveness is not possible.
This seems to be the concept in Luke 17:3 et. al.

I love the U.S.of A, don't care for how it's being run or most of the general population turning into compete Morons but thats a story for another day. I was lying on the couch trying to recover from my back going out when I seen it on T.V. I couldn't figure out what was happening, it was so unreal, my sweetheart called me from work and asked if I'de seen it and thats when it hit me, this is really happening, her boss told everyone to go home and when she got here we just held each other and cried. I moved to Beaufort South Carolina in 1976 to join the Marine Corp. at Parris Island right out of High School, my Father his Father my Brother, Brother in law, Uncles, Cousins and even my youngest Son all served, I passed all the tests with flying colores except for one, my damn pupils were deformed! Damn it! Well my eyes are fixed now and I'm 61, I'de put on a uniform and serve right now except my now Frickin' back is gone! Every year since that day my son (when he is here) and I go to the National Cemetery here in Beaufort and just walk the rows and talk to the FEARLESS Men and Women buried there. FORGET, NEVER. FORGIVE, NEVER. To all the inocent Men, Women, all the First responders. Rest in Peace. I don't personally know any of you but I will never forget you.

Jeff

I was living in NY at the time along the Hudson River and heard the sound of a loud plane that was so loud I looked out my window. I saw a commercial airliner that was barely over the tree tops. It was so low I could see the passengers through the aircraft windows and it sounded like the engines were in a reverse thrust it was so loud. Fifteen minutes later the news reported the tower was hit.
